It depends on if you're asking who we think is more talented or who we think is more valuable to a team. If it's the latter, then do you mean for a single season or career?

I voted based on talent, and for that I went with Ricky.

I'll change the first post from "Who is the better running back?" to "Who is the better running back as of this current date..."

yeah.....that's pretty vague, Cakes. Need more parameters to judge the two backs in question on.

Ricky Williams has certainly declined in production...but he's also older than Jones. Ricky also was much more productive in his prime than Thomas Jones could only dream of replicating.

EDIT: ok...just read your last post.....I would go with Jones.....if we're talking "current" status.

I created the thread and poll because two members of this message board wrote that Jones would not have seen the field in 2008 if he was with the Dolphins.
C'mon, let's come back down to earth, folks. (Just so it's clear, "folks" was directed at the two anti-Jones posters.)

I think Ricky was absolutely the more talented of the two but if I had to pick one for my team right now to carry the load I'm going with TJ.

That was what I voterd on. If I had to have one as my starting back comming into this season who do I want. That answer was easily Jones.

Jones. Ricky was a monster back in the day , but Jones had a nice O-line in front of him last year. With Leon getting more snaps, I will bet my "Free Dunkin Doughnuts" regular card that Thomas rips it up again. Having Two Very different backs is now in Vogue in the NFL. We have Two of the best and extremely different.

Thomas Jones made the pro bowl and led the AFC in rushing this past season.

Ricky Williams isn't even a starter

Nope. The first anti-Jones comment was made before I had posted on the matter and the second offender is a king of negative talk. You know him as the guy who last August created a thread about how Brett Favre wasn't smiling enough on the sideline in the latter stages of a preseason game.

I knew the poll results would be lopsided. I just wanted to see if we could find 10 legit Jets fans (not interested in votes of trolls) who would rather have Williams than Jones.

has ricky williams done anything in his pro career? I dont recall him having a season like tj did last year. Not even close really. Unless I missed something along the way I dont remember anything too notable about williams pro career.

In 2002 he had over 2000 yards (rush+receiving) and 17 TD's. He had the talent to do that every year.

In 2002 he led the NFL in rushing and was a 1st team All-Pro. He also ran for 1000 yards in 2000 and ran for over 1000 yards in 2001 and 2003.

His average per carry in those seasons-
    2000- 4.0
    2001- 4.0
    2002- 4.8
    2003- 3.5

He had one special season and a few good ones.

well i certainly missed that. Thanks for the clarification. I would still take tj over williams today though. In their primes obviously thats a different story, especially since ive seemed to overlook a lot of his career.

Definitely agree with this one. Give me Jones based on a couple of good years he had at Chicago and this past year with the Jets.... Jones also has bigger biceps than Ricky Williams, and doesn't smoke as much weed.
