I hope he wouldn't affect the chances of drafting a WR.

and who else are we bringing in to be our #1 receiver?

Holt had a down year last year on a horrible Rams team

But the year before he caught 93 balls for 1200 yards

Than it is is good thing the Jets play on turf. As does NE and Buffalo. So there are at least 10 games on turf.

If the deal is short term for the right amount of money do it. Than going into the draft we can just take the best guy out there & not worry about filling a need.

I'm just looking for some facts on Holt. Age wise, he is 2yrs older than Coles. Speedwise, are they comparable? I can't say that I've watched a heck of a lot of Rams games over the past 8yrs, so I don't know much about Holt...but does it make sense to get this guy? Obviously we are in dire need of a #1 WR, but can he be a #1? Or is he now a possession guy at this stage in his career?? Just looking for some inciteful color on the guy...

the move works if its low risk (short term deal not too much garaunteed money). he does have something left and will contribute, as long as we have a solution to the who is getting him the ball problem.

    Coles DOB: Dec 1977
    Holt DOB: Jun 1976

Not a huge age difference. Coles didn't show any game breaking ability last year. I think Holt is better then Coles. I don't see who else we would sign that would be better then Holt.

in the NFL, wisdom is very powerful... Holt is a pure student of the game and does help out his teammates. The knowledge he could give the young WR corps would be huge. He's still good for 65+ catches a season and gives respect to the passing game. He'd be a young QBs best friend.

BTW, if Holt is signed - I don't see how QB isn't on the Jets list for that 1st round pick.

I don't see a downside if they can sign him to a contract that roughly matches Coles' cap number and don't give up a draft pick. Holt is a hard worker who runs precise routes and seems like less of a malcontent than Coles. He would be a great influence on the young WRs and signing him does not foreclose the possibility of drafting a WR in the first round.

Jets trading up for a offensive talent me thinks if they do sign Holt. He is worth it if all he does is school the kids.

    QFE

    Or another wr...:p

Yeah, I'd have to think they'd make a hard push for Sanchez if Holt is signed.

8 home games plus Pats, Bills, Texans, Colts & Saints all on the road so that makes 13 turf games this year.

Just what we need. A broken down shell of what used to be Torry Holt. Is this Tannenbaum's usual knee jerk reaction to Buffalo signing TO? I hope if we do it's for vet's minimum.

We need to draft a receiver and let them play now. This is how we get into situations where we have to wonder if our young guys can get the job done because they never get a chance to play. This is not a Sb year for our team so let the young guys show what they have.

Mike just now said "Tory Holt is in the Mix," his caller said does it look like it's going to happen, Mike said "Yes Holt is good friends with so in so..."

Sorry I missed the name, who either works with the Jets or is friends with Mic'd up himself.

It makes a lot of sense actually. You bring in a classy guy who still can run fantastic routes and has been productive his entire career. Yes last year wasn't that great, but he was on the Rams for gods sakes... who the hell is going to do well on that team.

Also, we most likely are drafting a WR in the 1st or 2nd round this year, so who better to tutor whoever that will be than Torry Holt?

This would be a great move!
