Is this just speculation or do they have team sources?

Of course, Torry Holt is still a Ram and until he is, in fact, cut the Jets cannot publicly talk about him.

They didn't really elaborate on it but Evan Roberts was saying that he got some info about it

That was rumored on ESPN too, in their FA blog. I don't know how I would feel about this. Holt in his prime was fantastic, but this will be his 12th year. He would be a good influence on the young receivers on the roster, but I want the team to keep getting younger talent maybe drafting a WR. We'll see I guess.

I have always like Torry Holt and wouldn't mind bringing him in, but I'd be nervous after his season last year

Come on, Murrell, he had the lowly Marc Bulger throwing to him. This year he will have the amazing Brett '80 Yard Preseason BOMBS' Ratliff chucking asteroids to him! Get hyped!

I don't think there's a chance in Hell he would be more productive here. The signing wouldn't make a whole lot of sense.

Murrell talks sense. He had his worst season last year and his production has always been lower on the grass than the turf.
If he gets cut and we can afford a one-year, sure, go for it. Else, be cautious--very cautious.

Yes, then Mike opened his show saying "The Jets were on the verge of signing Torry Holt" Those were his exact words.

He was all for it and sounded pumped, he did not mention a source though.

I dont see why everyone is so happy, Torry Holt has been over the hill for over two years now.

    Seriously guys?

According to NFL.com this will be his 11th season. He's 32, could have another couple of high-quality years left. No harm in signing him if the numbers are good.

I think he can be more productive than other WR we have on the roster who we are expecting to replace Coles. While I like Stuckey and Clowney too, I don't think they are stater (and I'd rather see Stuckey stay at the #3 position). He can also help our young WR core from his years of being a top WR in the league.

because he may still be a good player and bring something to the team we need. I didn't realize we should only get excited about players with HOF abilities.
