http://www.newsday.com/sports/football/wire/sns-ap-fbn-patriots-baker,0,6941547.story Ex-Jet TE Chris Baker says decision to sign with rival Patriots was easy oneBy Associated Press 6:24 PM EST, March 3, 2009 FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) ? After seven seasons with the New York Jets, Chris Baker is looking forward to being on the other side of one of the NFL's most bitter rivalries. Baker said in a conference call Tuesday that his decision to sign with the New England Patriots as a free agent was an easy one, and came without any visits to other teams in the league. The 29-year-old Baker said he considers his greatest strength to be his versatility, a virtue that is prized by Patriots coach Bill Belichick. Baker said he has demonstrated an ability to both block and get open in the passing game I know this is old news but reading this really bothered me. You know he had every intention to sign with a rival. like if they did give him the best deal then i still dont like it but i understand but to not even go and vist other teams.....
sorry it just annoyed me and i didnt bother to look to see if it was being talked about or not. but it is a real article and i just wanted to state my opinion on it. and it is still somewhat jets based since it is an ex-jet trading sides.
This reasoning is dumb. Chris Baker isn't a fan. He's a professional who is looking for the best way to support himself and his family. Why should he have doubts about joining the most stable organization in the league, who's more than willing to pay him well?
lol i can't wait for baker to drop a pass against us in a cruical moment when he is wide open by himself hehe We got Keller who will become twice the TE that Baker will ever be
I love Keller, but I really liked Baker too. We didn't get as much out of him as we should have in his years here. Count me as one who would like to have kept him, without getting into the particulars of the money aspect. I don't like that he's with NE, but good for him I suppose. I think the other reason is with the new coach coming in, the guys who chirp needed to go which includes Baker and now Coles. Tanny did the same thing when Mangini got here with Mawae.
It's a pretty funny comment considering the type of defense Ryan wants to establish this year. I am sure more than a couple people made a mental note of what he said.
I liked Baker a lot until he pulled that juvenile stunt last year. He was due something like 1.6+ mil last season which is more than fair. By demanding more than he deserved on the extension he ended up agreeing to a contract that let the Jets cut him before this year and not have to pay his guaranteed money. He's a fool if he didn't see this coming. Fuck him. I can't wait to see Scott and Rhodes light that clown up.
Yeah didn't Mangini have to specially fly down to his home and have a heart-to-heart with him and renegotiate for him to be happy? What a little bitch.
Haha, remember when he parked his Bentley in the Team President's parking space and then refused to move it?
The pats will use him and cut his ass before he gets a chance to play. Just like they did to hobson last year.
