i dont see how we can draft anything but a WR.. there re reports saying we might take knoshaun.. or the DE jackson.. WHY?.. maybe i can see us taking sanchez if he is still at 17 becuz thats great value for his upside.. but still.. id rather leave the 1st round with a top WR..

Last year many receivers dropped out of the first round like limas sweed and devin thomas, will that happen again this year?? Receivers last year had 1st round grades but still dropped in the early to middle 2nd round. Hope this will happen again and we can then concentrate on defense(DL or CB) 1st round and then receiver in 2nd. Thoughts?

I seem to be the only one who is not a big fan of Nicks. I understand he is the most NFL ready, he is tough, and he has great hands. But I really dont see a ton of upside. his size is nothing special and his speed is not note worthy either (Im not talking about 40 speed) I get he would be a good receiver at the next level but really if there is one thing the Jets lack its speed. We all love Leon because he is fast...well who else on our offense is notably fast, Keller is fast for a TE. Im not saying we need a burner but it gets kind of frustrating watching Cotchery have a "he could go all the way moment" and then get tackled short of the end zone. Nicks seems to possess alot of the same qualities as Cotchery, and while I love Cotchery the last thing we need is another possession receiver

Rey ran a 4.83 40 at the combine- that sucks...

My theory is that the Pats are planning on using the 2nd round pick they got from KC on Clay Matthews. Prolly use their their first pick on Cushing or Maulega, who is slipping. Goodbye "aging linbacker corps".

Screw Nicks, lets draft this T. J. Yates kid. Too bad he's a redshirt Sopomore.

You have my uttermost respect beacuse of your avatar.
Which of the WR do you see most likely falling out of the first? For me, it'll be Kenny Britt and DHB.

Based on his college career, it should be Darrius Heyward-Bey. But he had a big combine and has the triangle numbers that will entice some franchise owners...

dHb 6-3 210 4.3 40 time rAiders draft him in 2nD round will be best qb wr tandem with jamarcus russell 6-6 260 can throw length of 5 football feilds. noT to mention dmcfadden 6-1 210 4.3 40 time. can you say best offense in lEague? jets offense with thomas jones age 31 jerricho cotchery bad 40 time and alan faneca age 33 dont touch raiders.

But seriously, this year's class of WR is far better then last years. Crabtree won't get past Jacksonville at #8 at worst. Hakeem Nicks is on the rise and Darrius Heyward-Bey lit it up at the combine so he won't get too far into the 2nd round. Maclin was a big-time play maker for two seasons and just needs some more time to develop. I could see Kenny Britt falling to the 2nd or Percy Harvin falling a bit due to durability concerns, but I don't think any of the top WRs will get past the first third of the 2nd round.

Yeah, i think DHB probably will go 1st round due to his combine 40 time. I think 1st round receivers will be crabtreee, macklin, harvin, and dhb and maybe hicks may sneak into 1st round but i'm hoping he doesn't leaving a chance for the jets to trade up in 2nd round to snag him. Britt, Nicks, and Robiskie should still be around in the 2nd round, but not until the jets pick which maybe a problem.

If we want Nicks, we'd have to take him at #17...

Don't you think that's it too early to draft hicks at #17??

Hicks - defenitly too early

Nicks on the other hand...would be a stellar pick #17.

Absolutely not. Read a couple scouting reports or watch some highlight tapes and you'll be impressed ..

Oh and by the way, if you actually knew anything about the guy you should know his name is Hakeem NICKS. So you're trying to debate where a guy should go in the draft and you don't even know his name? I could see messing it up once, but you did it twice in a row.. Do a little research first so you at least seem like you know what you're talking about.

Right now the early report is that the Jets are high on Maclin, DHB, and Nicks. I don't know if Maclin will be realistic because it might take too much to jump and get him. The debate I think on draft day will be do you believe you can get the most out of Heyward-Bey or do you feel you need an immediate impact and nicks can give you that? I think the Jets will debate heavily between those two guys right up until the draft.

First of all, what report are you talking about? I haven't heard anything about that yet.

And Heyward-Bey has bust written all over him for a handful of reasons. I want Hakeem Nicks over any other WR.

I came to this realization today and changed my avvy and sig for it. He's really got the least question marks of any of the top group of WR. No gimmicky scheme like Crabtree, rawness of Harvin and Maclin, pedestrian numbers and pansy attitude on the field of DHB, and iffy game speed of Britt (although his combine 40 impressed me). He just seems like the whole package coming out and should take the least amount of time of all of them to make an impact in the league.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; someone made an Anquan Boldin comparison a few weeks ago and I think it was perfect. I see a lot of Boldin's toughness, hands, and attitude in Nicks. I hope he's the pick at 17.

And there you have the argument for Hakeem Nicks everybody. This pretty much sums it up. He looks like the complete package and is the most NFL ready WR in this entire class. And we really do need someone who can come in here and make an immediate impact as a starter. This is Hakeem Nicks over any other rookie WR.

I don't think I was the first, but I also mentioned the Boldin comparison and it just makes sense on most every level. And he even turned out to be the most NFL ready WR in that class as he caught over 100 passes including a 200+ yard performance in week 1. Now THAT's NFL ready.

I think it'd be worth it to "reach" and take Nicks. He's gonna be a beast and he plays with that killer mentality that Rex looks for.
