Absolutely. But the unit will be deep now. Rhodes, Leonhard, Elam. Then draft a young talented rooked and cut Smith. That is a pretty solid safety corp.
leonhard doesnt lay anyone out, but Ive watched alot of him last year, hes beyond solid in pass coverage, and for someone who plays at about 180-190 lbs the guy plays heavier than that. but what he does have is textbook wrap-up and drive tackling technique. and yes, I actually enjoy watching Elam play his run support abilities are amazing so i agree Rex will find ways for him to make the field.
lol heres another link but we all know wiki cant be 100% accurate http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Leonhard

I agree. I imagine using Leonhard and Elam on any given play lined up up to the line looking ready to blitz. Leonhard has covered slot receivers at times, so this would add an element of surprised in blitzing schemes. Maybe Leonhard will blitz, maybe Elam, maybe both and you slide short zone coverages to that side. It just adds such great flexibility at scheming. I can't wait to see this D on the field.
Good pickup. I'm glad the Jets could make a deal with him. I wonder what our cap situation looks like now.
good question Id still like to see the jets give Leon Washington a long term deal but for FA I think we prob done maybe one guy for DL or OL depth
Ohoh...they make a point of stating "verbally". I guess after what happened on Friday nobody wants to jump the gun. In fact both links make a point of saying "verbally"...lol.
There was an article recently in which Tannenbaum stated they are in talks to give Washington and Mangold extensions. I will see if I can find the link.
