Mangini brought backup players who could have been cut any day during the season.

After reading the first sentence of the OP I thought this was going to be another Rex Ryan pornography thread.

Isn't that a rarity, though? Many coaches bring over at least one player from their old team as it is kind of a necessity.

Yeah well the Pats were good and the Jets sucked so I imagine there wasn't much incentive. Plus I'm sure their faith and loyalties weren't swayed a whole lot when it was their mediocre DC of one year that bailed on them.

the reports said that the players hated his system and BB took over around week 10... he still got a coaching gig.

That's not true. Players loved Herm Edwards, he was a player's coach and ran easy ass camps.

There weren't any big FAs from NE at the time. if so I'm sure we would have made a run.

That is b/c we weren't handing out big paydays until last year. Players will play in Iraq if they get paid enough to do it.

True, but I think state-of-the-art training facilities, a new 1.2 billion dollar stadium, and a competent GM also helps. In the last few years the Jets have become a more appealing option.

This keeps getting overlooked. Tannenbaum has done a tremendous job.

A competent GM who while GM for 3 years has never seen his team win a playoff game. We had a competent GM w/ the last regime and he presided over a team that was in the playoffs almost every year, won a div title and were close to AFC Title Games. I like Tannenbaum(except for the asinine Favre move) BUT it's about the money, if we pay players will come. Those other things are great like the practice facility, the Stadium, etc... but if we don't pay we don't get those players.

I think moving the facilities to NJ saves the players some big tax money which is real cash in your pocket. I wouldn't underestimate the move out of Hempstead making us more competitive on a cash basis.

I am sure it HELPS and if all things are equal maybe it sways but w/o the $$$$ it doesn't do a thing for us.

Not that I'm anti-Ryan... cause I'm not. I'm cautiously optimistic about our chances with him as HC, but I give him 4 losses before people start screaming for his head.

Probably, but I'm overly optimistic and clearly haven't lost all faith in my fellow fans...

Did you miss the first word of my post? I said "True." That means I was agreeing with you, but I was adding on more factors that have ALSO helped make the Jets a more appealing option. Of course paying players is most important, hence the "true" part.

As for Bradway, I don't want to get into a discussion about him, he is gone and doesn't matter. All I will say is I disagree...strongly.

Bums wanted to come here. Ty Law came here because we gave him a ton of money for one season and an easy out, John Lynch and Antoine Winfield made it look like they wanted to come here just to drive up the price where they eventually went.
