I think no way in hell you give him more than 2/2.5 mill a year... no way... if someone else offers more than that goodbye otherwis welcome to the jets
Big deal. We could probably draft a better safety. At the very least I would rather gamble on a draft pick than overpay for Leonhard.
I agree. I mean, it would be nice to have him on board because he knows the base of the defensive we'll be running, but he's an average player, not worth breaking the bank for if you can draft a better safety.
I'll trust Rex on this one - if he doesn't think Leonhard is worth that much, it's quite possibly because Rex thinks he sees someone in this year's draft that he can do the similar thing with. On top of that, Leonhard may not flourish under "other" system than Rex's system - so, basically Leonhard doing a lot of damage to the Jets doesn't seem like a plausible scenario, should he sign elsewhere.
i think we cant afford leonhard. theres no way the eagles can be so cheap not to overpay him. they have squat at that position and lots of cap space.
I think we're still gonna sign him, he just wants to test the market see if there's anybody out there who'll give him a lot more money than the Jets will.
Give Lowery a chance at safety, He's good in coverage, a ballhawk, and proved he can be a sure tackler.
I don't want the Jets to be the team that overpays every FA they get. If Leonhard isn't affordable then as many are saying here, go get a S thru the draft. If we get him in a affordable fashion then of course that frees up the draft for depth amoung other things.
Interesting that the Ravens aren't even trying to resign him. Hopefully we don't overpay, but it'd be an ideal signing as per our need at Safety.
