Many have noted the drop in d play when Jenkins went out. Has anyone heard of what some of the better dt salary demands are in free agency. If you could find a 300+ pound tackle to spell Jenkins and could rotate at DE in short yardage etc maybe their cost could be justified. Players like Bernard(sea), Johnson(dal), or Cody(det) or is a veteran plugger like Grady Jackson more likely?

Grady Jackson would be a nice one or two year fix, but the Jets need to draft someone. BJ Raji anyone?

Raji will be long gone before we pick.

his teamate Brace will be aound but need to be taken in the 2nd or 3rd round. Thats a high expense for a back up NT. There is not a lot of 34 NT prospects around this year.

as harupa stated, BJ Raji is definitely gone by pick 10 possibly top 5.

Ron Brace, he is one of my top 5 players in the draft which would do well on the Jets, I see him playing the Ngata role and backup NT

Can't say i know much about Brace, but i like where your head is at.
Need insurance on Jenkins, and some flexibility at DE. In short, i'd love any semblance of a Ngata type!

I'd be surprised if Raji doesn't go to the Packers, they're shifting to a 3-4 and need a NT. Brace is the best option in the draft. Grady Jackson could work as a spell for a couple of years. I doubt he'd command more than the league minimum at this point. I think Manu-Manu would be available in the supplemental draft but I question how he'd do when he's not playing next to Sindbad/Andre Krimm.

I have been hoping we draft Brace in the third. I think he is going to excel at the Pro level. I love Jenkins but he needs some plays off and he get injured a lot. Brace was killing guys during the Senior Bowl practice. He's huge and powerful. A steal in the third.

im glad this was brought up... NT backup is a necessity... i don't care how we get it, what round we get it, as long as we get a decent player

we would need a trade up in the 3rd, I am guessing he is gone early 3rd or the last 1/3 of round 2

i'd love either raji or brace in green...but i think we'd have to use a 2nd to pick up brace, and i still think it'd be a solid pick

I agree, I don't mind reaching for Brace in the 2nd. It would be nice to take some of the heat off Jenkins, rotating the two in and out, keeping them both fresh could keep our defense strong till the game is over.

You draft the biggest body available in rd 2 or 3. Unless Raji is sitting at 17.

Check out Sammie Lee Hill. He's like Ngata (against DIII).

What about either Fred Robbins or Barry Cofield from the Giants? Now that they signed both Bernard and Canty, I'd think one of those big DTs is available.

Neither are prototypical NTs, Robbins is 317lbs and Cofield is only 304lbs. They wear down too easily and they're forte is penetrating the o-line rather than eating up space.
