I would not sign or draft a WR unless it was for depth. Its time to give Stuckey, Smith, Clowney and Marcus Henry a chance to start along side of Cotch and see if who steps up. WR's are not worth a first rd. pick or top free agency. Besides, we are now gonna be a ball control, smash mouth offense that does not turn the ball over to go with our top 5 defense. I think its more importatant to find a backup to TJ because Leon can not run 22 a game for a full season

The depth at WR in the first round (Nicks, Maclin, Hayward-Bey) is enough so that a blue chip prospect will be available when we pick. It would be silly to pass, even if we sign a veteran. We can probably get a good D-Lineman in rounds two and three.

I love it when people see numbers from the combine and automatically throw the speed deamons into the first round, reguardless of who they are or what they've done.

Dude, Darrius Heyward-Bey ran a 4.30 40, he's afraid to go over the middle, and he runs suspect routes -- he's going to be a Hall of Fame receiver.

I agree I would never waste our first pick on a WR..it would be utterly ridiculous without having a QB to throw to him. But don't be surprised if we draft a QB or RB with that pick.

DHB has more potential than Maclin does.

Maclin to be honest only runs like 2 routes and is a product of the missouri offense.

DHB-4.2-4.3, is taller than maclin and has the size and speed with the hands to compete at the next level.

I wouldn't mind either one but i can see dhb becoming the best WR from this draft.

Maclin or Hicks would be nice. Stay away from Bey he is Troy Williamson.

im sorry but no chance this team doesn't need to draft or sign a wr, thats ludacris there is so much talent in this years draft we would be foolish not to. If i had it my way clearly i would take crabtree but realistically i feel nicks is the fucking man...

I really don't like drafting wide receivers high.

Look at last year's crapshoot. Donnie Avery was a surprise pick over Devin Thomas, who was supposed to be stellar. Jordy Nelson and James Hardy were drafted ahead of Eddie Royal. Jerome Simpson was drafted ahead of DeSean Jackson. I was crossing my fingers for Limas Sweed, personally. :breakdance:

How about 2006? Big argument between Holmes, Moss and Jackson. Pittsburgh chose wisely sure, but the other guys haven't done jack. (Greg Jennings was the next WR off the board, I believe. "Who?!")

Sure, the marquis guys are nice. Your Crabtree's, your Megatron's. But all in all, I'd rather take my wide receivers later and let them develop.

Nicks is the only top rated receiver I want.

    (discounting Crabtree)

Heyward-Bey has okay hands. Everyone knows he's fast, but he's not physical at all. He's not a complete receiver -- I don't want him on this team. You can't knock Maclin for route-running, when DHB has a similar problem.

    Hakeem Nicks or bust.

I would like to see us go with Brian Robinske in the 2nd round. He seems to fit the system well, plug him in as a the #2 receiver, good blocker and while i am not big on combine numbers his big question was his deep speed and he ran a 4.5. I think Maclin or Nicks would be best bets in the first round, but rather focus on other positions. Only guy i truly am against is Harvin

Plenty of depth at WR in this draft. We'll take one in the 2nd round. You can bet that they will target a big physical WR a la Britt.
    very good speed.

With the first pick, they should take Beanie Wells if he's available. 6'1 230 lb. bruiser with speed. He'll be a nice smashmouth complement to TJ.
