That's exactly what i'd been thinking through this whole ordeal. No team should have traded for him and then the Patriots would be in trouble. They might end up releasing him and then teams could get him for less.
Second round picks are like gold. You can find starters there at most positions. But the contracts are relatively inexpensive (especially compared to the #3 overall !). It's a great way to build your team in a cost-effective manner.
Clarification on Draft pick to New England Are they getting the number 3 pick or the 34? I hear people saying the number 3 but I see 34 here, -Schefter http://blogs.nfl.com/2009/02/28/cutler-upset-over-potential-deals-to-detroit-tampa-bay/ I just thought it would be good to clear it up for myself and others. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ EDIT: http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d80efe755&template=with-video-with-comments&confirm=true Is the 34th pick, not the 3rd. ..that makes me feel a lot better.
It is officially, Cassel and Vrabel for the 34th pick. http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d80efe755&template=with-video-with-comments&confirm=true
I think how good a trade it is for the pats depends on what they do with the 19 million they just saved, a long term extension for wilfork, signing bodden and a few other extensions and minor signings seems liek a good move for them.
I almost lost it when I saw the deal was for the Chiefs first rounder, thank god. A 2nd sounds so much better.
Jesus. One talks to himself, the other has a picture of a guy in his underwear on his avatar. What's happening to TGG?
