I had no idea where to post this. NCAA seems to be for football only, plus basketball is discussed in BS..yet BS doesn't seem right because there is a Baseball forum but this doesn't even seem right because it specifies MLB..oh well, here's a shot. College Baseball is starting (for me, 4) in 3 days. Got the top 25 right here, as per Baseball America. 1. Texas A&M | 2. Louisiana State | 3. North Carolina | 4. Texas | 5. Cal State Fullerton | 6. Ole Miss | 7. Rice | 8. Baylor | 9. UC Irvine | 10. Missouri 11. San Diego | 12. UCLA | 13. Arizona State | 14. Georgia | 15. Stanford 16. Oklahoma | 17. Pepperdine | 18. Kent State | 19. Clemson 20. Georgia Tech | 21. Alabama| 22. Arkansas | 23. Louisville 24. Florida State | 25. Oregon State I'm excited to see the Rebels at 6th, also excited to see a lot of the SEC within the top 25. We've got a really deep bullpen this year, primarily dominated by right hander Scott Bittle has won two pre season All America awards. I can't wait for the home stand against LSU at the end of March. Any College Baseball fans? How's your team looking this year?
North Carolina over CSF is confusing. Georgia must have friends in high places, as they had a lackluster recruiting class and still managed to get 14. Not that any of this matters, college baseball dosen't get interesting until early to mid-May. This is down year, IMO.
Really excited for the new season to start on Friday. UCF has a new coach, Terry Rooney [former pitching coach at LSU], for the first time since 1976. It's been 7 or 8 years since UCF was last ranked, hopefully Rooney can lead the way. Rivals.com Top 25:
Rivals is insane. No Stanford? Miami in the top 25? Rice in the top 5? WHAT? It's like they just bingo ball'd their rankings.
The Rivals rankings were done by Kendall Rogers, Yahoo's baseball editor. He has Stanford at 26, and Fresno State 27th. His take on Stanford:
Fresno lost all of their dominant pitching and are LOADED with freshman. And it was an iffy recruiting class, at that. They might be good again in a couple years, but this is deffinetly not their repeat year.
The way the schedule of college baseball lines up only a few northern schools stand even a remote chance of winning anything
