Now this whole brett favre situation.... Now that he has retired whas the trade even worth it at all???? We lost a 3rd pick i think or maybe second... We didnt make the playoffs... we lost it all in the end of the season... Favre really showed his age and showed he couldnt be as successful and make it through thee entire season like he use to... Though it was a third rounder we lost i think...

We still do not have a resolution to who is gonna helm the team.. we should of just either kept chad and whats the worse that could of happened we miss the playoff haha how ironic we missed the playoffs anyway... or we could of given ratliff ainge or clemens a shot at developing there skills so one of them could emerge as the QB.. instead we get washed up favre and in the end we are back to square one...

Now not knocking favre at all he is a good QB but our franchise has no QB or None of the back up QB's were getting reps so they can prepare for the job... Now they will try to bring in the next veteran QB and try to do thee same exact thing with another old QB...

Now my suggestion is give these young guys a chance to play and lets see where it takes us... every year we get a QB and people say ohhh Super Bowl time we will never be a powerhouse Dynasty team if we dont find a guy who can play for us from young... Thats how Brady came about and thats how Cassel came about let the kids play....

    All thoughts are welcome!!!

    My summed up opinion:

We took a shot, it didn't work, easy to regret it using hindsight, i enjoyed the season with Favre as a Jet, it forces our hand at change, where as if we would of kept Chad we could of been locked in mediocrity for years. He has let us know early, now is the time to move on, and look forward to free agency and the draft.

Automatic first year of eligibility HOFer. Possibly unanimous. Has some records that will NEVER be broken and number one on that list is 269 consecutive starts by a QB.

I want the current younger QBs on the team to have benefitted from his time here. The one good thing out of all of this is that both Clemens and Ratliff got to watch a true professional.

If they gained nothing more, I'd want them to have garnered the fact that a QB "has the right" to improvise on the run, to deviate from the game plan if need be and to let themselves go in the face of changing situations.

Penny was always "in the groove" and almost mathematical in his checkdowns, to the point where, if he ran out of options, he really ran out of freakin' options.

Favre was willing to look outside the box. "Okay, this was the play, but it's broken. I'll be damned if I'm gonna Checkdown. Fuck this... I'll run to my left and underarm it to Leon and watch him screw them."

That's the kind of lesson I want Clemens and Ratliff to have learned. And if either one of them haven't learned that, then we're destined to have lost all the good things Favre brought here.

If not, maybe one of the two or them (or even Ainge.. the 3 of them) might have been the fortunate recipient of Favre's legacy and more importantly, his style.

Does that include learning to throw it to the wrong jersey??????? There is no bigger indicator for wins and losses than turnovers and Favre was a human turnover last year. I'd rather have Pennington's check downs and single digit interceptions than what we had last year.

Thank God...Favre time has passed...he was a great QB in his day...he has made the best decision for him and the team. The Jets are now 18+ million under the cap. We have three young guys who should be given a chance to win the job.

Yea we would rather have Chad who played 1 full season for us in 8 years & we knew for a fact we would never win the bowl with him. P.S. he could not throw a 10 yard out but that is who we wanted over Favre !

A terrible day for the Jets. Everyone on this board is acting like it's a good day when really it's not at all. We got screwed 2 more years that were on his contract, and now we're stuck with no good QB and a 17th round draft pick(like that will help). Farve didn't even stay long enough for Clemens or Ratliff to learn stuff form him
