I thought this guy really did some nice things in the superbowl. If Rex can get this guy going he could really be a good addition and can really keep Jenkins fresh. Thoughts?
Gabe Watson? No thanks. Darnell Dockett? Yes please. Dockett is a game changer... gets penetration every time. He's what DeWayne Robertson never was.
where exactly would you like to put dockett in this 3-4 defense? he is WAY too small to be a nose and his game is in no way shape or form to hold anyone up or keep anyone from getting to the lbs. he is a speed guy and did pretty well today, much better than most of the season but i dont need another carlos beltran.
the last thing kris jenkins needs is a eating buddy. but if we could get him relatively cheap itd be nice to have a backup NT one who played with David Harris and has 3-4 experience.
Like insanity said, Dockett is a very good 3-4 DE, plus he would be a nice fit in the 3T for sets with 4 down linemen.
im an fsu fan, watched dockett's career. he can do it, but the real question is at what price. hed probably be better off signing a big contract with ARI or might be able to command a bigger contract with a 4-3 team. id like to see him here great athlete with a extremely high motor. but i have a feeling he'll be getting a fat contract
Exactly. This move is about depth for the position we need a solid backup at the most. 3-4 NT's don't grow on trees, so if you have a chance to get one, you do it.
Quite possibly. Rather, another 2-man eating DL compliments the LINEBACKERS instead of NT, if you see what I mean. I think I posted this in some other thread, but I'll say it again. One of the reason Steelers' defense is so successful is because one of their DE - Aaron Smith - commands double team too. One of a chief reason why Patriots defense is so successful is because Richard Seymour commands double team too. Because two guys in 3 men front commands double team, the last DL only needs to occupy 1 OL - but if he commands double team, he can take the TE with him too, but then I digress. Anyway, the point of having monster DE alongside huge NT is to have as many clear lane into the backfield as possible - in Pittsburgh's case, their ILBs have a clear shot from two lanes because of it. If anything, I'm all for Dockett, with right price of course. If Dockett learns to command double team, with Rex calling the shot, you know what you will see - the opposing QB falling on his face all game, eating dirt.
