I agree with everything you said, however I would like to add one more thing, those teams you mentioned had defenses that made things happen for them, our defense did nothing to help our offense.
I have been following Brett's career long enough to know that he wants to know that he is wanted back by the organization, before he states he wants to come back. "If Brett is not playing for the Jet's this year it will not be because of some polite excuse he makes up to let the Jet's organization off of a Public Relations hook; it will be because of what was said to him behind closed doors by the coach and GM"
that makes little sense. so he takes 3 months off to see what people say about him? if your such a brett favre enthusiast wouldnt the very kind of competitiveness thats kept him playing through injuries (selfish or not), be evident after the season. so your telling me he officially announces every year, i dont know if im coming back, so he can then sit around and wait for people to question him, and if they dont do it nicely he feels disowned? i understand the packers were stupid to let him go, id be angry if i were u too. but maybe your right, maybe he was seeing who they bring in at HC. ill be an optimist.
A better question should be: Is Brett Farve worth the $13million cap hit when we can accomplish much the same game manager style of Qb play (Schottenheimer) with a much cheaper option.
If this is true, then not only is he an overrated washed up hack, but he's also a mentally weak prima donna who can't tolerate having his feelings hurt. Enjoy the gold watch, Brett.
After watching that "if we win, we win" pep talk, i never want to see that "has been", in a Jets uniform, again
Coach K, I think it really comes down to him deciding if it's worth it to give 110 % the next season. The Man wants to be a winner himself and wants to be part of a winning team. Some players have no problem in giving this decision right away but it's my belief that Brett really wants to make sure that he is going to be able to be 110% committed to the team and "The organization is going to be committed to him" At his age, and after what he has seen, I understand that. Post Note - Love your signature - Leon is fantastic !!!
If he wants to fully commit, take part in intense offseason conditioning, and be a leader on this team, i would take him back. He still throws a fast ball, and can keep teams honest against our run. Just needs to reign back on the bad decisions, and trying to win games on his own. I'd much rather have Favre than any other veteran that might be available though. Biggest knock really is the cap hit IMO, and the delay in finding out what we have with our younger guys (which might not be much).
Exactly. We don't need Favre to throw every 3rd or 4th play and get picked off every 3rd or 4th pass. All we need is to manage the game and run an offense similar to someone like the Ravens. We will be successful keeping it on the ground. And I can't wait for some of these Green Bay "fans" to get out of here.
This is the most rational post on this thread. He played terrible the last 5 games, period. We can quibble how much it was him falling apart and how much was the torn bicep, but the result is the same, he sucked. But for as true as that is, it is also true that his play the previous year and the first half of this year proves that everyone saying he is 100% for certain washed up & has been for years is an idiot that is more concerned with personal agendas than the true facts of what he might still be able to do. He could suck next year, but people who say he will suck could still end up with a lot of egg on their faces (not that any of them would ever man up and admit it, like I have been doing in agreeing he sucked in december).
Did anyone see Favre in the pre game huddle against Miami? He looked like he would rather be at the dentist then playing. And to post a stat that I keep repeating, in the last four December's Favre has thrown 12 touchdowns and 30 picks. Even if he comes back he's going to ruin your season come December.
I agree, but a torn Bicep does not effect your brain, does it? Also like others said Favre has been wearing down in the past 4 Decembers not just last year's. He made terrible decisions, one would think if his arm was so hurt, he would have opted to make some safer throws, and would ask to use more running plays. While there is a chance he can redeem himself, it's a chance I'd rather not take, but right now there are not many feasible options. That being said I would rather look else where for a QB, and use some of the saved cap to sign other needs. But I have a feeling Brett will be back, and if that's the case I hope he can play good all 16 games and deep into the post season, not in just some of the first 11.
