I can't believe the "Scapegoat" Brett has become 4 the Jets Organization. I can't believe they even need a "Scapegoat" after a winning 9-7 season. I can't believe how on one hand Woody and Rex talk about how great Brett is but never really come out and say "We want him back to lead the team" Talk about BS Politics !!! Brett, I could have understood if you had retired after the off season you had to endure last year, that had to be stress that I can't even imagine. This year Brett - Prove them wrong before you walk away - All of them. You didn't go through that horrific off-season 4 nothing last year. Who cares how many wins you end up with (or what team you play with 4 that matter) Just give it 100 % one last time and don't back down from the double talking coaches and arm chair critics out there !! You have proved them all wrong before, that's why many are pissed. GO 4 IT - PROVE THEM WRONG JUST ONE LAST TIME BRETT - Even if it's on another team !!!
Thanks Brett for posting the same thread on every jets forum!! By the way how is the hunting going? Oh and if you don't retire prepare to be cut!!
you dont need a scapegoat after going 9-7, you need a scapegoat when your 8-3 and you throw 2 tds to 9 ints, costing your team a sure playoff birth, were the ravens or the titans or the steelers for that matter that much better than us? No, there qbs just made ALOT less mistakes down the strech
I want Favre back too, but everyone is not wrong. He can't really prove them wrong. He BLEW IT BIG TIME. He could succeed next year, but it will only redeem himself, not really prove people wrong. Just saying. Unless people are saying he will be terrible in 2009, which is just dumb.
I agree with you. I meant he has to prove it to everyone. He did play terrible, and deserves the criticism he's getting.
So have you found the fountain of youth yet, Brett? If not, I'd advise you to take a hike. (If anything, your past few december records say you are not up to the postseason any more.)
And I am saying he will be very, VERY terrible come December. He has been the past 6 years. What makes you think it will be different THIS time?
I look for Farve to comeback and prove them wrong. Not just because I want him to comeback but for the simply fact that what he been doing his whole career.
Let's see if he can pull that out against Father Time. My crystal ball says don't even bother betting on Brett.
Yeh it seems like The Brett Favre's is a whole other fan base, making the total 33. I would love for Brett to prove me wrong but at 13 million dollars in cap space its a little price, I am not a gambling man and those wagers are a bit steep
I am still hoping to be a converted jets fan for life but that will all depend on how well a future hall of famer (Brett) finishes his career here. Quietly being pushed out the door while everyone smiles and says he is great would equal a no while giving the man a chance to finish what he started by getting hm to play a final year would equal a Yes. I want to back an organization that treats a HOF player well and I don't think I am the only one who feels this way !!
I am a betting man and I would bet one him if he comes back. People know on here I don't bet with my heart. I bet on every game every week and I have bet against the Jets a lot of times. Ur right u can't bet farther time BUT he not ready for that...What changed in Brett from when we went 8-3 to 1-4?
Frankly, I wouldn't mind him under one condition: he must participate in the off-season conditioning program, and participates as a good teammate. I am mentioning this, because I am getting concerned that his dismal performance in the cold weather of late has something to do with the lack of conditioning on his part. I've seen many players who played well past their primes, but still produced, and they all had one thing in common; that is, they kept their body well-conditioned. So no matter what the weather condition was like, they went out and performed like they were expected to. And... I still don't know if it was Schottenheimer calling shitty plays, or Mangini cuffing him. If it turns out that the case was latter, I have more reason to think Favre could improve substantially if he decides to come back. With a good conditioning, he may well play deep in the winter and still find himself very effective.
The Jets don't need a 40 year old $13million interception machine to run a low-risk, grind it out offense.
you do realize first Brett Favre has to say "I want to come back this year and play football" right? when he says that I'll welcome him back, long as he gets his ass to training camp, as the rest of the team has indicated they want him participating in. the playcalling has to change though. no more sandlot air it out madden shit. plus another year in the system would do him some good. either way the show must go on, I'd be glad to have him back. and if not, the New York Jets still play football and thats all I've ever cared about. i would be dissappointed though to see him end his career like that. also a 40 yr old favre is still better than anyone else were gonna get in here. seriously, who, dont trust any of the FA's and I doubt wed even draft a 1st rd qb with the lack of depth on our defensive front 7 with Rex Ryan at the helm. plus i really dont wanna go QB in the 1st. so thank god.
Well - I don't know about that. True, not all the low-round WRs blossom into a pro bowler, but there certainly are gems to be had. If I recall, Jets did draft a kid with 6'4" physique - Marcus Henry. I just don't see why this kid wasn't even seen during the pre-season game. He could very well make it to the line up and become Marques Colston of for us. If anything, Jets drafted the kid, so why not give him a shot, unless the point of drafting a college kid is to make him ride the pines then retire? With that kind of height advantage on the wideout, I don't think Brett can be that dismally ineffective like he was last year - Coles isn't quite the kind of WR that would intimidate the opposing CBs with his physical attributes or make his presence felt in the air (like Larry Fitzgerald does.) These days, I see more of a slot receiver from Coles, frankly speaking. I still think this team has many untapped potential in many different skill positions, and if this team learns how to do it, who knows?
