I'd have to say yes...with a new D I'd like some continuity on offense..and Schott should have a chance without mangini.
Yes! He has done nothing wrong, he will only get better, he provides continuity, he helps bring back Favre, and I don't want to see us hire the next Paul Hackett. I'm thrilled with him coming back.
I say no but mainly it's because I have always felt when a HC is fired it should include the complete staff too. If you are starting over then start completely over.
To me it doesnt matter. I dont think last season was Schotty's fault. It really looks like Mangini wouldnt let him coach. If he wants to be a head coach next season he is probably going to have to impress people as an O Coordinator. So lets give him another shot without Mangini. I really dont think he is a bad Offensive coordinator.
One of the things I love about Rex Ryan is that he's not all about himself. He is open to keeping other people's coaches. It is the right thing to do. He is a first year coach, and he knows that Schotty doesn't have any baggage. Continuity is the best thing for this scenario to work next season, and it's the best thing to work Ryan into the job. Also, Ryan is a Defense specialist. He shouldn't have to focus so much on the offense, while he's working on turning around the D. I think this is great news to get Schotty back for at least another season. But I think he's gone next year to be someone's head coach
You hit that right on the head. When he mentioned right off the bat that Callahan and Westhoff were staying that told me a lot. Whats best for the team comes first and he wants to surround himself with knowledgeable people.
Schotty is the only reason our offense looks as good as it does now. Imagine when we can give him a playmaker at receiver what he could do
Hurray, we get to witness some more idiotic playcalling with 3rd and 1 bombs. Schott needed to go as well.....
my thought exactly. I want to know if its true Mangini was curtailing the plays for Farve! If it was Shotty calling the pass after pass while the running backs got little action , thats a changer in my mind. Either call the game or change the Quarter back if he's stinking up the joint.
The continuity is good for the development of the young QB on the roster (and for the offense in general). I just want to see the innovative 2006 Schotty back, not the guy from 2007 or 2008. We need to be less predictable on offense. And for God's sake get Leon the ball more !
Yes, I am happy. As mentioned in other posts, I don't think he was bad at all and the continuity on offense will be a plus in Ryan's first year.
I like the continuity aspect of it and also the finality of it in the sense that we aren't really sure what reports were correct. Was Schotty at fault for our offensive game plans or did Mangini overrule him? This year we find out all the answers, because it is a safe bet that Rex will not interfere too much with Schotty's offense as long as they focus on a ground game. I mean if I was the HC and sat down with Schotty I'd ask him one question: Who was responsible for the horrendous offensive game plan in the Seattle game? Whoever was responsible for that game should not be a coach in the NFL.
so if he does good he will end up being a head coach next year? well thats just great so we can start over next year instead of this year. great thats just what i want to see. the guy has been here how many years? he has accomplished what? he has proven that he can get the offense into the end zone on a regular basis and make the right calls play in and play out? ok so he got a ton of excuses because of chad, now he is not being blamed because of mangina, at what point do we realize this guy just isnt that good? i realize it and still hope he doesnt come back. we do need a fresh start and i have a feeling he is being pushed on ryan, and i am not happy about that in any way shape or form. i really just dont see how keeping him is good for the franchise, he sucks we lose a year. he is great he goes and becomes a hc and we start over next offseason. really whats the good of keeping him?
I'm against it because he was horrible in 07-2008. In 2008 I'll give him a less of a pass then 2007 because Partially because of Brett Favre's crappy play
