Personally i think this guy is completely overrated. I see him purely as a system player in florida i.e plug in any fast guy at his role and they'll do just as well. They ran reverses with him, options etc. and just threw it deep to him. They really just gave him as much open space as possible because he could outrun the majority of college defenses. But he can't do that in the NFL and i really don't see him as a viable starter, just purely as a deep threat. And i think you can find those deep threats in much later rounds. He just seems like a slot receiver in the NFL to me and absolutely not worth a first round draft pick. Anybody else agree?

  2. Like I said in the other thread..the one thing that scares me about him is the "Reggie Bush effect". What will be his nfl position and can he be an every down player? If he answers both those questions..he's an elite prospect w/ his overall speed and big play ability.

I don't like him now, but wouldn't mind him if we were a competing team so a guy like him two years down the road, but we now have 3 threads featuring him so that scares me

Maybe in the 3rd round but this guy's weaknesses are his size, his injury risk, and his route running. Yea he's fast in the option, but he's not even a WR! I don't want any kids from a friggen option team drafted in the first round b/c they have these bloated stats from their scheme. They don't know how to play ACTUAL football! Hopefully Rex isn't a retarded as previous regimes.

I'm not. I think he could be a good player in the NFL, but is not waht we need a WR. Hell no at the cost of our first.

Why take Harvin in the first when you can get Nicks/DHB in the 2nd or trade down and take Britt? Harvin won't be a better pro than Leon Washington is, and we already don't get Leon enough touches per game, why waste more speed? Why risk him being a total bust like Ted Ginn when we have plenty of other holes with safer picks available (Tyson Jackson, Maulauga, V Davis, A Smith, D Butler)?

Not so much for the Jets but I could definitely see Harvin doing well somewhere in the league. His speed is like Chris Johnson or Reggie Bush, two guys that have done well (Bush was overdrafted at #2 but that's beside the point). Speed is a tremendous advantage in football and Harvin is like quicksilver.

There are other situations where Harvin could be used better then what we have available. Washington deserves more touches. He is our tiny quick guy for right now. I want to see him used like Westbrooke. Run with him. Throw screens to him. Split him out wide. No need to add a second guy with a similarset of skills that is not comming in as a starter for us. Not with our first rounder.

I would much rather perfer heyward bey over Harvin, bey addresses more needs in terms of his skill set he is tall and fast

amen. harvin is at least a 3rd round pick. not worthy of a 1st overall selection.

don't worry about harvin his stock will drop after the combine/individual workouts.he can't or hasn't run a route in his life and that will be his undoing.he's a second round pick book it

I'd take him in the 3rd, he could be our Chris Johnson. I do think all this 1st round talk is crazy

i don't think harvin is a guy who can be a receiver full time, he is certainly explosive and i think can be effective, but we need a true go to receiver, whether its tall or fast i don't care, but we really need someone defenses feel like they have to really gameplan for.

I think Britt from Rutgers is one of the best all-around receivers in the draft. Maclin and Harvin look like wanna be Ted Ginns.

Lets go Defensive with the first pick and maybe try to grab that guy from USC Patrick Turner... Age 21 Height 6'5 Weight 220lbs Rec 49 Yards 741 AVG 15.1 TD 15 very similiar to Kenny Britt but with the combine and all i think Britt will move up the charts... we can get turner maybe 3 or 4th maybe 5th if its pushing it.. But the nfl network was at the practices for the senior bowl and said the kid really never had the chance to shine and in the nfl he will be good...

I would take Harvin at 17. This guy is a playmaker and I feel he is better than the product of Florida. I like him more than Bey and Maclin.

Another option is Kenny Britt who had a great season for rutgers may even be better than Harvin or on per but his height and physical aspects are better
