With no deal for 2010, I thought they could not rework any contracts?

I can't believe cutting Coleman would only save us 900,000. People can say what they want but that was a real shitty signing.

If that's right the Jets can't do a thing and that means pay the people they already have.

any player he brings here from baltimore will instantly be a field general in terms of defense.

they are vocal cause Ryan trusted these guys and made them confident.

Coleman and Favre are the ONLY starters in my list. Coleman is no beast. A second round rookie can do better than Coleman if he's name is not Gholston.

As for Favre, he's too expensive. He's the best option, but we really can't afford him. Leftwich wouldn't be too bad. Like I said, we'll need to bring in some one for about 3-4 mil vet.

Barrett, Bowens and Baker are all backups. I'd keep poteat rather than Barretts $4.6mil worthless play. You can make a case for Baker but thats easy money to save, hence a cap casualty.

James Dearth is making almost a mil. Im sure we can find an OL depth that can do LSing too along with being a backup to a tackle, guard or center. I don't follow college football so I can not point out any LS.

32 Games, 29 starts, 2 sacks. Or in other words, sack a season. My grandmother can fluke more than that in about 1500 attempts...

    http://www.nyjetscap.com/kenyoncoleman.html

Take the hit now rather than wasting another dime on him. Same for Barrett, he'll be 32, making $4.5 next yr while starting just 1 game this season. Bowen is a similar case but he's not as bad as Barrett or Coleman.

I'll tell you right now that Ray and Suggs aren't going anywhere. You can take Scott as we have two Bart Scotts in McClain/Barnes sitting on the bench. Leonhard is a luxury for our team, and I'd be disappointed if we lost him, but really he is just a backup on our team.

You don't want Ivy, believe me. Corey Ivy is quite possibly the worst CB on our roster, and he only got playing time because our starters (McAlister/Rolle) went down, and their backups (Washington/Walker) subsequently got injured as well.

I'm wondering why you think players will leave a team on the cusp of the Super Bowl, who they've been drafted by and treated very well, to go to a 9-7 New York Jets team that never contends. I don't mean to be an ass, but that is the reality from an outsider's perspective. Furthermore, I didn't see anyone following Mike Nolan, Marvin Lewis, Mike Singletary, Mike Smith, or Jack Del Rio...

the thing is, they're free agents, and them leaving your precious Ravens is certainly a possibility.

The bottom line basically is you guys won't have that cap space to save all those guys. You will surely lose 1 and likely multiple starters, not to mention tons of your top players are getting very old. Our whole team with the exception of 2-3 players are young and set to stay here for years to come, not to mention the most important thing... You say that no players followed the coaches that you listed but did you hear any players say they would like to travel with that particular coach? No. Have MULTIPLE ravens said they want to stay on the team Rex is on? Yes...

I'd love to see Ray Lewis leave Baltimore so that he can follow Rex Ryan. Honestly, that is a bad joke. I liked Rex, but he is just another coordinator.

It's hard for us to have a discussion about the Ravens because you're making claims that are just flat out wrong. Players on the 2000/2001 team stated quite bluntly that Marvin Lewis was the best coach that they had ever played for, and they'd do anything to continue executing his schemes - I don't see many former Ravens in Cincinnati. I realize that it's not your team, but when you make bold statements like
I just have to correct you. McAlister, McGahee, and Boller all may be released, freeing up a ton of room and allowing the Ravens to not only lock up Bart/Ray/Suggs, but also bring in a WR or CB.

About the Ravens being old, that worked before the season, but not so much anymore. We have quite possibly the best young offense in the league, and Ngata, Landry, Suggs, and McClain will be good for years to come on defense. Ray, Reed, and other "old" guys have at the minimum a few more good years left as well.

Ok well I stand corrected I suppose for the most part. Do you really believe McClain is going to be good for "years to come?"

Also you stated "continue executing his schemes" which is exactly what I mean. You just admited that they did not say they wanted to FOLLOW him to Cincy.

Who knows honestly? Rex could end up being a bust as a coach and you could be proven right about "just another cord" or he could be great and your defense could suffer some for the loss.

Finally, you make a good case about why would they want to leave an already contending team, but there are a few answers to that. 1. (tho we dont have any atm, we will free some up) Money talks... and 2. Some players may want a bigger role. For example, Suggs is not the captain of that D and wouldn't/will not be until Lewis retires, and if he came here you have to assume he would be our leading LB.

We'll just have to wait and see. In my opinion, Rex may not thrill you guys as he is a pretty hands off coordinator.

Suggs may like a larger role, but his production would probably go down should he leave Baltimore.

All of this is just speculation, and we can look back once the offseason concludes.

Well supposedly the defensive guys made a pact to follow Ryan where ever he went.

I think Rex will be a fantastic coach but I could be biast too. *shrug*

Also, how do you figure his numbers go down? If you claim there is less talent on the Jets (I know you didn't say that word for word but its what you made it sound like) then shouldn't he be getting more tackles/sacks/etc.?

I think he would do about the same in our system as yours but once again just my opinion.

We will have to wait quite awhile before we can really determine who's right in what aspects...

I'm not slamming the Jets by saying that they have less talent, but I think that's pretty indisputable.

If Suggs were to play on a lesser team, then he'd draw more doubles and have to shoulder the burden. Playing in Baltimore, linemen have to account for Ray, Reed, Scott, Ngata, and Pryce, meaning that Suggs is freed up very often.

RavensFan06, it's not a bold statement to say you will lose at least 1 of your starters, it's true. You guys can not afford to keep all the starters who are free agents and i'm not saying they will come to the jets, but 1 or more will be leaving and it's just more likely if the jets offer them a deal they would come here where they have 2 former coaches then go some where else.

I would think Suggs leaves for sure. He wanted out last year and I doubt there is more money for him this year.
