"Ed Reed is a special player, but it's the way he's used," Rhodes said. "He has a guy next to him he can trust, so he can take chances and freelance. That's the most important thing to me. If the coaches have confidence in the guy next to me, I can go out and make as many plays as Ed Reed."

I'm not saying its not true, but it seems as if Elam or E. Smith (hopefully he'll be somewhere else) reads this that they would be a bit upset about it.

Rhodes is 100 percent right, i cant wait to see how Ryan uses him, last season he was ineffectively used by Mangini. I dont think for a second that theres one person on this forum that would disagree that we need an upgrade next to Rhodes,Eric Smith is getting cut this season and let elam work the nickle.

Well that Leohnard kid from Bal would be perfect... Reed played next to him and had a huge season, so......

Leonard is available and probably not very expensive. Oh, and he loves Ryan and has already said he would follow him to the Jets.

Rhodes is right... go get him a guy that he doesn't have to baby sit in the backfield.... Elam did make plays, but at the LOS, not in coverage. Rhodes needs a guy that can be both... A guy like Eric Coleman, who is having great seasons in ATL.

A bigger evidence of this is how Rhodes was made to play FS most, if not, all season long. He's normally lined up on the strong side and/or allowed to roam center field. He had to keep an eye on Lowery which put him out of position a lot of times. Not to mention he's pretty spot on. I mean, he had E. Smith playing next to him, and Elam made 1 good play in coverage. All other Elam's great plays came at the LOS and/or off of strips/hard hitting tackles. He isn't good in coverage, he's just a hard hitting Safety.

He is probably right, but we do not need to hear him say it. Let the coaches say it. It is a me quote from Mr. Me.

I like the swagger, to tell you the truth. Now that we have the Ed Reed position filled, David Harris has to knife somebody during the offseason, that'll keep Bryan Thomas in line.

hes absolutely right, hes had stopgaps and bums next to him his whole time. put a good player next to a great one, and watch him become elite.

I can see some benefits to driving a bus over Smith.

How about he knifes BT so we can put the Cactus on IR and get someone on the field who really wants to make plays....

I never said it wasn't true, but he might have to play with either Elam or Smith next year... I'm saying that it might have been poor choice of words. I mean, he knows whats up, he doesn't really have to say it...

maybe it was a shot at the coaches too (sutton)

if they (coaches) trust the guy next to Rhodes, he can be a poor man's ed reed.

I don't know, it just seems to me that Rhodes is a leader on the team, and throwing your teammates under the bus, no matter how accurate his words maybe, is just not a leader type thing to do.
