Now as per NYDAILYNEWS.COM Ravens 'D' coordinator Rex Ryan agrees to four-year deal with Jets By RICH CIMINI DAILY NEWS SPORTS WRITER Monday, January 19th 2009, 10:36 AM It's official: Rex is a Jet. As expected, the Jets agreed to terms Monday on a four-year contract with former Ravens defensive coordinator Rex Ryan, according to a league source. Ryan likely will land a deal in the $11 million to $12 million range, based on the contract former Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo signed Saturday with the Rams. Spagnuolo received $11.5 million over four years. Ryan will be formally introduced Wednesday at a news conference. His agreement was in place late Sunday night, not long after the Ravens' loss to the Steelers in the AFC championship game. Ryan will be the Jets' fourth head coach since 2000.
http://www.profootballtalk.com/2009/01/19/report-schottenheimer-to-stay-with-jets/ once again blah i would rather get Hue Jackson as OC than Schotty. Jackson could only make the offense better
If Rex can make him buy into a better philosophy he could be a good OC IMO. If he goes Run N Gun when we're up late in the game Rex will knock his ass out.
I just don't see how anyone can come out and say either way that this is a "great hire" or a the "wrong hire". That fact of the matter is, we have no idea how this is going to turn out. If our past has told us anything, its told us NOT to get excited about rookie head coaches, like Herm and Mangini. At the same time, some converted coordinators/rookie coaches around the league to turn out to be pretty decent head coaches. But I just don't know how anyone can be celebrating like we've pulled off some huge coup, he's never been a head coach at any level! Not being a darksider, just trying to keep things in perspective and be realistic. I hope to god this guy pans out to be a great head coach, but how can anyone know until he coaches some games?
The Jets are not going for a retread they wanted a 1st time head coach & they also wanted to keep the 3-4. Ryan is a proven D coach unlike Herm who was never a D coach he was a DB coach Monte Kiffin was the D coach for the Bucs he had ZERO track record zip zlich nothing NADA he got the job partly cause of his relationship with Terry Bradway from KC & Mangini was a D coach for 1 year he was a DB coach as well he got the job partly cause of his relationship with MR. T when they were with the Browns I think this is a great hire for the Jets despite his last name he earned his way to this spot he is not MR. T'S boy he started coaching at these crappy schools no one ever heard of & earned his way up he will tell it like it is & his players love him he attacks & he plays to win
Agreed, but you know what? A little punctuation goes a long way. Like a period at the end of a sentence would be nice so it doesn't read like a randsom note.
It?s a crap shoot with anyone the Jets hire. Rex Ryan will get the standard two years to see progress. Since our team is stocked right now, our front office will be looking for some progress from the previous, but they will be afforded the ability to have a wash out and no one will be put out in the cold. I?m just really excited to see a new defensive coordinator.
hopefully you weren't trying to make spicer feel bad about his lack of punctuations. FYI when you are posting, and the word you write is underlined in red, that usually means there is something wrong with the spelling..
I'm at the front of the Rex bandwagon, but I still have some reservations. I'll feel better if Westoff stays, he does more than special teams, he also does clock management and some quality control(2 strengths of the Mangini era).
JohnnyJohnson sorry I dont do that stuff I am not a gay but since you let guys do that to you you MUST be gay
I can do better than that: I was only opening my zipper to give your mother some air. I was only opening my zipper because I have an itch and I like to smell my fingers. I was only opening my zipper because my wang was caught in my shoelaces... Will that complete your order? Thank you, please drive up.
