On Schefters blog you can read that if Rex Ryan joins the Jets as the HC Brian Schottenheimer could be leaving Gang Green:

Guess that means we're not hiring Ryan. Bet on it. He's trying to strong-arm the FO because they like him.

I agree he is doing that, but that can't stop the Front Office right? I mean Woody cares about money more than winning. Rex would bring more fans for sure. Although maybe you are right as Schotty has the better chance of bringing Favre back and we all know Woody loves Favre even more than shampoo.

    bang on.

He's pulling the old "make me your HC or i'm gonna walk" routine.....what a douchebag.

Please god...don't let Rex walk over Schottenheimer

Shotty is officially a douche! I have been defending him because I felt Mangina restricted him but now hes going to give the org an ultimatum? How about someone just take one for the team already! We need to win, not cry that someone was picked over you for the HC position. Go Screw!

He had a contract. They'll make him adhere to the contract unless another team wants to make him assistant HC.

Schotty is officially a douche because he "might" seek employment elsewhere if Ryan is hired?

Wow, I knew I should have stayed in the BS Forum.

Fuck Schottenheimer. Ryan is the way to go and getting rid of Schotty is a double bonus. Get him out and bring in Sexy Rexy.

god Tanny, do not cave! There are reasons you apparently seem to love Rex Ryan, who gives a shit about a coordinator who isnt ready to be a HC? fuck him. bring in the guy you want.

WE DO NOT NEGOTIATE WITH TERRORISTS! thats the United States policy, it should be the Jets as well.

Note: by making these comments (if indeed proved true) Schottenheimer Jr. is essentially holding the team hostage. Hostage taking is a form of terrorism.

I don't really want Schott here anymore anyway... so it doesn't really matter to me if he leaves like that, but I do totally get it and would not blame him. He turned down a gig to stay here, he's on most teams radar for a coaching vacancy, and for the team he's been loyal to not to promote him... bit of a slap in the face. If it were me I would be seriously weighing my options as well.

EDIT: As a matter of fact, I have worked for a place and had that same exact situation happen. I came in at the bottom level, worked my way up for a year or so and had a chance to be promoted, and instead of promoting me (when i stuck around when the place was a hole and everyone left), they lateralled someone with no experience in the position over to do the job - then expected me to train them. Needless to say, I had a new job with more money and a promotion about 3 months later.

Seriously the more I think about it the more perplexed I get. What exactly is Schott's beef? That he didn't get the head coaching job because his track record suggests he should? The offense's track record sucks. If he stays all reports say with Ryan coming in he's going to get a shitload of autonomy over the offense. So what the fuck pal. Stay here for a year then hit the interview circuit if you can do what your paid to do and what everyone thinks u can do and make this a top flight offense. Leaving because you didnt get an HC job that you won't get anywhere else at this time because your track record sucks is a pussyshit move.

I will say this. It's been reported that Rex would want to bring in Hue Jackson as offensive coordinator. I don't know how I feel about this.

Guys, this is all BS from the press. There are 10 other articles saying that either Rex wants to work with Schotty or Spags doesn't want him or whatever, it's all a bucketload of crap. Let's wait until things actually happen.

EXCELLENT NEWS! Now watch Woody no longer want to hire RR because he wants Schott to stay as OC for some dumbfounded reason.

Exactly what I said. With what track record does he deserve the promotion to HC? And it wasn't even a certainty Schott would coach the Dolphins, in fact many had Cameron as the favorite at that time from the beginning.

I don't understand why Woody would do that....when he could've promoted Schotty Jr. weeks ago. If anything, I hope Woody views this as an "insubordination"....and cuts this douchebag loose....or even better...force him to honor his contract as the OC.

I don't think this will affect Rex's candidacy for the HC position. Originally, i thought, Woody was going to cave....but that makes absolutely no sense.
