If this is true, then why have Spags back in? Just hire Ryan. Maybe it would be good for the Ravens... the players rally for their parting DC... Crennel and Weiss got their HC gigs during the playoffs.
I'm willing to give Schott another chance working with a competent QB for a whole training camp as opposed to Favre who came in late. Even if that QB is Favre, I think he'll do a good job If he's gonna be retained as OC regardless, there's no point bitching and whining about it. Mite as well hope for the best
wrong. the Pats went without an OC for a year after Weiss left. Josh only got the OC title in 2006. Belichik has input into everything the Pats do.
YES! I'm soooo excited about another guy who's never been a head coach at any level. Wahoo. I remember such similar talk about Mangini before we hired him. That worked out well.
Harbaugh kept Ryan on as DC when he came on, Tomlin kept Lebeau when was hired by Pittsburgh. Sometimes its a good idea to keep some kind of consistency in a transition stage. I agree it's a little different becuase those two coordinators have had success whereas Schottenheimer has a less then perfect track record but my main gripe with this is not that the front office wants Schottenheimer to stay on but that they feel like he has done a good enough job to keep his position. My optimistic side is saying that Mangini and Daboll had more of an input in Schottenheimer's offense then is often portrayed and that with full control over the offense BS will get back to being the rising star he was his first year here.
I hope he comes here, and I doubt Rex would agree to this unless he truely feels that Shottenheimer would stay unless he feels he can do well for his team
Perhaps. But perhaps, Ryan likes Schotty, or sees potential in him as an OC. We've seen some awesome, aggressive, smart gameplans from him, and we've also seen ones that beg the question whether or not he belongs in this league. The advantage Schotty has is that he's young and still can be given a chance to learn from his mistakes and improve. Head Coaches (e.g. Mangini) don't have that type of leeway beyond approx 3 years, because they're supposed to be on top of that stuff; that's why they are Head Coaches. I'm sticking to my personal belief that Schotty deserves another chance with a different HC and a better QB, because we still don't know if his playcalling was constricted by Mangini.
I'm with you on this one, I was thinking the same thing, if Rex is this desperate to be a HC it's not good.....I understand the continuity factor on offense but if you are bringing in a coach that hopefully will last 7-10 years what's the problem with letting him implement his ideas on both sides of the ball...JMO....unless he likes what the jets are planning to do next year on offense, who knows? aahhhggg....I'm sorry but this is not good news to me. you heard it here first, KC in the playoffs next year with Spags as their coach. Rex punching BS on the sideline after losing last three games of the season and failing to make playoffs.
Mav is right. Article does say that HE would CONSIDER brining him back. I don't dislike the idea of brining Schott back for one more season. Give him a chance with a QB who won't turn the ball over 25+ times. It just might help.
