    Dear Woody Johnson,

I wish the owner of the Jets cared more about winning than its short term paper value. Here's a hint - in NY, a consistent winning sports franchise is the correlating characteristic of long-term value.

I've been a loyal Jet fan for about 20 years. I've had season tickets, I've flown to road games, and have driven 300+ miles to cheer for and spend my hard earned money on this team.

All I ask for is an organization committed to winning.

I cheered for the spending you made and risks you took that pointed to a super-bowl or bust attitude.

However, the past 2 weeks have revealed that this isn't about championships to you, this was always about PSLs and increasing the present value of your investment.

Firing a coach is acceptable - but only if you have a plan and think you can do better. Prioritizing your vacation over the search for the Jets football anchor revealed your true colors and motivation - and that's indefensible to your core customer base. (unless you had a family emergency, and then I humbly apologize for my poor assumptions).

I'm sick of rooting for a team whose owner does not prioritize a winning franchise. It's what your customers want. Paying for a PSL will only be in vogue as long as you maintain the Jet loyalist base. If the season was more than a (wishfully thinking) 20 game committment, I would have fled to the Falcons already.

Please either sell the team or act like you care. Again - if you had family emergencies, I apologize for my assumptions.

    Sincerely,
    Ashamed in Atlanta

What's the big deal about Woody taking vacation. NO HC may well be an upgrade to the eventual hire. I could make an argument that right now we have the 4th best HC situation in team history. Once we hire a HC we may well be downgrading from the current situation? Committed to winning and winning are two different things. Chill out I suspect we will have a HC and a staff prior to the draft and TC. Woody's a great owner look at all the different uniforms we can buy now. When was the last time you had so many options to support the team?

Who knows, maybe the plan is to get Rex Ryan, and the first step will be taken today.

I usually like your posts, but this post is the biggest pile of steaming homerism I've seen in quite some time. A HC before the draft and TC? I hope that's sarcasm. Woody is a great owner? What leads you to believe Woody is a great owner? Because he spent 160M last year? Big deal.

As for the vacation thing, if he knew there was at least a 1% chance of landing Cowher, then his priority should have been to talk with him either in person or on the phone, niether of which he did. Why? Because he's such a fatastic owner, he'd rather throw away a inexperienced HC to go after another inexperienced HC. Roll the dice, just like everyone else. I see no commitment in that. I see more experimentation.

What will you say if he placed Shitty Jr. in the driver seat? I know what I'll say.

How do you know that? You don't. I'm sure there was something they could have done to lure him to the Jets. Pay a lot of money and give ultimate control, not to BC himself, but him and his team.

I'd take Jerry Jones over just about any owner in the NFL, let alone over the most timid and uninspiring owner in the league.

I happen to own the home and away Brett Favre Jersey the Titans Brett Favre Jersey and because of Woody I can buy my way into great seats without being on the waiting list. Who gives a crap if we got Cowher or not. I'm talking Jets sidelines and Titans Jersey's.

Cool, a great view of a shitty product. At least you have your Favre jersey though. Maybe you can get 50 yard line seats for their next meltdown.

Save your money, go out in your neighbor's yard and you can get a front row seat to their dog taking a shit.

Well the man did spend 140 million dollars of his own money last year and I for one thought that he spent it wisely but it did not help in the long run. As for firing the coach and not having something in the wings was a bad business plan. Now we as true fan have to again wait for the right coach, NOT just any coach, BUT someone who can truely lead this team.. PLEASE DONT SETTLE.

    Woody Sucks

What kind of an owner is unavailable to talk to a potential head coach like Cower. When I heard Cower say this on the FAN last week it made me sick.

If you were going to fire your head coach the day after the season ended, you would have thought feelers would have been sent already. Not Woody. Let's keep a GM that has no clue on personel, and start a search America for a new coach.

Woody, next year vacation during the season, you won't be missed.

It's amazing that people think no preparation went into him hiring a new head coach just because we haven't actually hired someone yet. I'm sure Woody found out before us that Cowher was not interested in taking a job this year and he decided to go in a different direction. Two of our top candidates are still in the playoffs!!!! I don't understand why people are in such a rush for us to hire somebody when the best candidates aren't even available to be hired yet. That's just absurd. Our GM that has "no clue on personal" brought in Kris Jenkins who anchored our defense for the first half of the year. He was able to sign Kerry Rhodes to a long term deal and revamped our o-line and allowed Thomas Jones to be the leading rusher in the AFC. You are clearly angry at the state of the team and I can't blame you. However, think rationally about it.

Has it come out anywhere he was actually on vacation? The guy also runs a very big company in Johnson and Johnson which is pretty important for the health care and pharmaceutical business so maybe he had a meeting for J&J which I think should take precedence over the Jets.

I know cowher was going to coach becuase I listen to the interview on the fan and instead of getting insane over the fact that woody wasn't available to talk to him I listen to the whole interview and heard a coach that CLEARLY DIDN'T WANT TO COACH!!!!!

It's got nothing to do with Cowher. You are making one of the most important decisions about the team and the owner is off on vacation, while owners for other teams are sitting down with prospective head coaching candidates. It doesn't look good. It implies you don't care. It shows disrespect for potential candidates. The original post is dead on.

Lets just wait and see who gets hired. You folks try and act like you know whats going on behind close doors but you really don't. The attitude of the fans on this board is awful.

herm edwards, chad pennington, eric mangini, now woody johnson. its funny jets fans are like sheep. one person decides they are going to blame a particular person for every problem the jets have and everyone follows. you guys are probably gonna be stuck blaming woody for awhile. getting rid of the owner is harder than getting rid of the coach or qb. enjoy being miserable it seems to get a lot of you off.
