He is interviewing to be head coach of the Jets. And rightfully so, he has paid his dues.

    All incorrect.

Mr. T has come to the conclusion, that if a Head Coach can assume the responsibilities of a G.M., why can't that road be traveled in reverse.

Mr. T. is going to appoint himself H.C. of the N.Y.J.

So it makes sense to keep the staff in place.

Jets haven't Fired anyone because they want Schott to come back as OC.. So they want to seem impartial when a new coach comes in and then say to him, you can keep him you want... If jet management has its way, Schott will stay... Regardless of who comes in, sutton wont even get an interview... no worries

It's fairly typical for teams to wait until the new HC is hired -- I suppose the theory is that it makes it easier for the new HC to keep those assistant coaches he likes. God help us all if the new HC wants to keep Sutton, though...

Head Coaches generally make the coordinator/other coaching decisions.

Last I check, the Jets don't have a head coach. The new guy, whoever he is, will most likely let him go.

Fairly typical? Name one other team that has fired the HC and kept the entire cast of characters underneath. That is bad business and a turn off to anybody who might want the job.

Maybe if they fire him they have to compensate him in some way that they don't have to if he takes another job, like one in CLE. Also, no one ever thought of Sutton as DC material before Manginius, he was a good assistant coach before he got promoted, no reason to think he can't be so again. I think his old job was LB coach. My prediction is that if Mangenius ever coaches again you will all learn that it was really his fault and that he will use the same 8 man coverage schemes you blamed on Sutton.

Maybe that has become the way to do business these days. I know it would have been unheard of in the past. I still think it's a really bad move if you are trying to attract a big name coach. It really doesn't matter, I guess, with a rookie.
