Mangini was probably worse and they hired him anyway...so too Edwards. The bottom line was always the money.

Spags, Jim Zorn and Brian Shott look like they all have the same father. Or at least the same barber.

And Francessa loves the "hand up the ass" feeling.

Rex will blow them away in the interview.

I was very impressed with his after game comments as it is.

    Rex will get the job.

Although knowing the Jets, Sutton will probably get it.

I never understood the Francessa hatred I see in this board. The guy knows his stats and his sports. So what if you disagree with him here and there. He's a radio host so he's not going to please everyone all the time.

Grimm would probably be a hire similar to Herm Edwards, who also was never a coordinator before getting his first head coaching job. Mangini was a coordinator for a single season before the Jets bestowed the head coaching job on him.

Could we please at least get an established coordinator this time so that we know that one side or the other of the line of scrimmage will be pretty competent from the get-go?

mike used to be very good, years ago. he was always pretty much spot on with his stats. however there are people behind the scenes who are handling that anyway. mike has become very pompous, very argumentative, actually let me rephrase, he is very bash you after he cuts you off the phone ish. very very pompous and way too full of himself and his thoughts. there is NO getting the guy to see the other side of anything, there is no thinking about what the other person says.

he will simply cut them off and or over power anyone who does not agree with him. yelling at a make believe phone is really quite toolbaggish.

other than that yeah sure he is great, as a matter of fact... mike and the maddog got me to stop listening to wfan in the afternoon quite some time ago. after they let go imus and put that tool in there with boomer now i wont listen during the morning. so all i have left is the late morning segment, which used to always be the weak link but now is the strongest that station has.

Every list of people they're interviewing that I've seen is full of white guys. What ever happened to the "Rooney Rule"? Don't the Jets have to interview at least one minority candidate?

I wouldn't hate that, but it doesn't always work out that way. Billick was hailed as an offensive genius and his offenses always ended up mediocre with the Ravens, but he won his ring on the back of an elite defense assembled by an amazing GM.

I would like an established HC or Coordinator who can handle HC responsibilities while knowing how to competently surround himself with a talented and effective CS. And a GM who can compliment that by giving him the right players to do it.

What a mess Woody and Mr. T have caused. The Jets' front office is so gay they should interview Richard Simmons for the HC job.

Absolutely. The obligatory interview has to take place before you can hire anyone.

I guess I understand and agree with the principle in theory. I do want minorities to have an equal shot at being hired, but it always seems so demeaning to that particular minority at the same time.

I just hope that some day the Rooney Rule is unnecessary and considered outdated. It's an unpleasant reminder of the old days... segregated bathrooms, etc. It's almost like the entire purpose of the rule is overshadowed by the very insinuation that it's even necessary. I'd like to think we're beyond all that now, but maybe I'm being naive as well.
