With the success of Joe Flacco I bet BAL would be willing to part with Troy Smith for a discounted price. I watched him closely when he played for OSU and he ripped it up when he came in during garbage time against the Colts last year... Threw for like 4 or 5 first downs in a row on his first drive that ended with him scoring a TD on like a 15 yd run into the endzone smashing one of the Colts defenders in the mouth on the goal line.

I know most of you are gonna give your pessimistic "NO WAY I'D SHOOT MYSELF IN THE HEAD WITH A MACHINE GUN" response but I'm curious if anyone else thinks it'd be worth considering?

does he have the arm to play in the nfl? I always thought of him as a scrambler.

I always thought he had a strong arm but then again I'm just a guy that watches on TV from my couch. He is a scrambler and it was the thread about Michael Vick a few days ago that got me thinking about him.

The weakness everyone cites is his height, but until I see it hamper his performance it doesn't mean much to me.

Brad Smith is far more athletic, Troy Smith could probably not be able to play WR in the NFL

If they're smart, Baltimore should keep him around until their sure Flacco is their guy. I wouldn't mind Smith, but I like what we have already. There aren't a whole lot of FA QBs I'd go after this season.

well, let's be honest here.. neither can Brad.

Seneca Wallace has been more successful as a starting QB than Troy Smith...and that doesn't say much.

    I'd pass...on both.

You are going to compare a QB who went 25-23 in his college career that was drafted as a WR to a QB who won the Heisman Trophy? That's just ridiculous. You'll do anything to just try and dismiss any idea you see posted on this board in a-hole like fashion.

Unlike Brad Smith Troy Smith has real QB credentials besides just running with the ball...

    College QB ratings...
    Sophomore - 134.15
    Junior - 162.66
    Senior - 161.91
    Career - 159.72

Comparing him to Brad Smith is just buffoonery.

Yes, and using his college QB ratings (LMAO) to justify him as an NFL QB is more buffonery.

Well since every NFL team drafts, at least partially based, on their college performance, either it does mean something or the entire NFL is a bunch of baffoons.

    QFT'd.

Smith is like a decent 3rd string QB right now.

no way, those guys are Jets. Jets backups = garbage, but any other teams backups = gold!

I'd trade this years first round pick for Troy Smith, and next years! if he's capable of being the great starting QB we need, then inherently he'd be worth it, right?
