If Johnson didn't go we would have never had Pennington. I agree he should have stayed although it would have made things boring around here.

I was a big Keyshawn fan, still wear my #19 to the games. It's wearing out though, I might need a new one by next year.

Whoa....Thats a mighty big statement....The Namath era ended in 1976. Key was good, but the best jet since 1976? I don't think so, here is my list of Jets since the Namath era who I think were as good as or better than Keyshawn:

Curtis Martin, Wesley Walker, Al Toon, Mark Gastineau, Mo Lewis, Joe Klecko, Marvin Powell, Kevin Mawae, Freeman McNeil, Aaron Glenn.

If he had more speed he would have been a TO clone.

He wasn't the fastest guy but he was a stud. No one was going to take a jump ball away from Key. The guy made Ray Lucas look good, that says it all.

Keyshawn was great for us. He was huge in the '98 season when we fell 30 minutes short of the Super Bowl.

Great possession receiver, tough and very crafty. Not elite but a very good NFL WR.

Me-shawn got a bad rap in NY and that's just part of playing in NY. He never backed down to the media, Parcells, etc and that may have been his undoing here.

Also the fact that he had a lukewarm relationship with Chrebet probably expedited his departure from NY. Wayne was such an all-time fan favorite here that the majority of the fans would always take his side over Me-shawn.

I think the cap had a lot to do with it. The Jets feared a nasty contract situation and were pretty capped out at the tail end of the Parcells era. Keyshawn was a star former #1 overall who was living up to it and entering his prime. If you're the Jets, what better time to get rid of a guy?

Well said I still think the JETS havent had a WR with his talent and calibre of play since he left. Many imposters but none equal or better.

Chrebet and Keyshawn could have been 1 hell of a tandem of WRs imagine the success if it would have lasted alot longer. I like them both and wont pass judgement regardless of whats been written. There are always 3 sides to every story.

Actually there career numbers are very comparable and Keyshawn didn't have the NFLs all time leading rusher on his team.

That's the kind of love-hate I had for the JO too. Hated him personally but loved his presence on the field. We've never replaced him in all these years.

Are you kidding? Chrebet is a bad-ass and diesel as hell. I'm sure he'd have no problem taking on Meshawn.

I can't take any more of this Key love. Andre Johnson is the premier WR in the NFL. Key never even close. He was slow, was not a team player, and an overall a@@hole.
I think i was the only one at the time happy he was traded. The fact that we got 2 1st round picks was robbery!

Keyshawn was overrated. Name a few of his big Jet highlights?
    Possession receiver at best.

And the fact that Gruden told him we'd rather you just left doesn't help him in the credibility department.

And he was totally jealous of all the love Chrebet got as a Jet.
    Hence the flashlight comment.
He just never got it. Chrebet was a lunchpail dude who went to work and got it done against all odds.
The star really had a big game against us that first time, eh?
    1 catch for 1 yard.

Key's mouth was his biggest asset.
