Like I keep saying--Herm was a better coach than Mangini!
At least the Jets got into the playoffs under Herm...
Everyone disagreed with me and hates me for saying it, but...

Do you all still disagree with me that Herm was a better Jets coach than The So-Called Mangenius?

Herm Edwards must have been the worst coach in NY Jets history:
Just look at his record with the Jets:
    2001 10 6 0 .625 3rd in AFC East
Lost to Oakland Raiders in AFC Wild-Card Game.
    2002 9 7 0 .562 1st in AFC East
Lost to Oakland Raiders in AFC Divisional Game.
    2003 6 10 0 .375 4th in AFC East
    2004 10 6 0 .625 2nd in AFC East
Lost to Pittsburgh Steelers in AFC Divisional Game.
    2005 4 12 0 .250 4th in AFC East

Three playoff appearances in five years. So please tell me the OTHER Jets coach who did better than Herm.

Look, I am joking a bit here. I do not in any way want him back. I am just saying that the guy did a decent job with the Jets, and I am very afraid that as time goes by, it might look better and better in hindsight. And I am suggesting that we might have a much bigger problem...

Woody Johnson just sacked another coach. He froze Herm out to hire Mangenius, and now... Do you think anyone will work for him unless he overpays them?

I sure hope that this "braintrust" can hire a real football coach this time...

Now with hindsight it would be an improvement. Two highly unintelligent coaches, the only difference is Herm can fire up his players. I hate to say it but a certain insane/troll poster was actually right about Herm being better than Mangini, not by much though.

    Uh, the answer is NO!

Herm Edwards took a good Jets team and destroyed it. He then took a good Chiefs team and destoyed it. He's absolutely terrible.

Hey we are trying to bring back a guy that threw 2 TD's and 9 picks to hit a whopping 22 INT's in the last 5 weeks.

i cannot sit here and let anyone say that herm was better than anyone at anything other than ruining the jets team.

remember back to the days of herm, please remember how he made you feel. if it was good, you need help.

mangini was not a good coach, he was not going to lead this team to a superbowl but at least he wasnt a lying cheating throw everyone you can under the bus bullshit artist like herm was. its amazing that some still dont see it. he still has you bullshitted and he has been gone for 3 years, 3 years which i might add he proved to be a complete toolbag as a coach. the people in kc knew after last year that he was useless, they really know now. and yet here we are in new york and we are so behind the times we still dont realize that the shit that thankfully walked away 3 years ago was a complete and total piece of hot stinking shit.

wheres nyjunc? he ALWAYS hits up these threads. :)

This franchise needs to look ahead; enough with bringing back this guy and bringing back that guy. You don't rehire a former coach because if it doesn't work out, you are opening yourself up to some serious ridicule. Let's get rid of the dead weight (starting with Favre) and put together a 2-3 year rebuilding plan. You need to have a few bad seasons and get those high draft picks to rebuild - there is no other way around it.

We saw what happened this season when you take a shortcut by throwing money all over the place to attempt to buy your way into contention. The Jets mortgaged the house and now are left holding the bag. How professional sports executives could not see this coming is beyond me. Anyway, it's a waste of time to second guess whatever decisions were made last offseason. Time to sweep the ship clean and stop the delusional and nonsensical "one more run at the Super Bowl" talk.
