Ok now who? If we can't get Cowher this was the wrong move imho. There is no one else out there aside from another first year guy or a retread.

I have to imagine Cowher or another coach is on board because I agree, if you just fire with nothing lined up, that's pretty wreckless.

    MANGINI OUT!
Posted by Mike Florio on December 29, 2008, 9:07 a.m.

A league source tells us that the Jets have fired coach Eric Mangini.

The move will be announced at a 10:00 a.m. EST press conference.

    Wow.

    More to come.

I'm happy but sad all the same. I really thought Mangini was going to be the Jets HC for a long time. It is the right move though, time to start over again.

Can we call the folks who distribute the "Sopranos" DVD's and ask that they cut out the Mangenius scene?

Good. Now hopefully he is replaced by Cowher or someone who can compete with Billicheck and Sparano. Everyone knows we have the talent. Lets spend the cash and get a great coach.

I watched the replay of Jets Postgame on SNY last night (God knows why) and Eric Mangini always looks like the fat kid who got mugged for his lunch money at the post game press conferences. Look, Mangini may be a good guy and I wanted him to succeed as Jets' Head Coach. This thing has not worked out and you can look to the team's second half perfomance as the clear indicator. You don't need a press conference to know that there has been trouble off the field. The Jets are dysfunctional and a new coaching staff is the first step.

I'm afraid that 2009 will be another rebuilding year in the 40-year rebuilding plan of the New York Jets.

Someone said that @ the Tailgate yesterday and I disagreed only because Holmgren was adamant about taking at least 1 year off but if it weren't for that i'd see it possible.
