And now the pain is really starting to set in. I just can't believe this team went from playing so dominant to end up where they are now. They didn't just go into tennessee and win, they DOMINATED. Completely outplayed them in every aspect of the game. Everything was clicking, offensively and defensively. Even then against BAD teams like the Rams, we completely embarrassed them for what they were. I just don't get it, what the hell happened to this team in such a short period of time? Did they really just lose all that emotion they had in that 5 game win streak? After they beat the bills on the road to go to 5-3, they started to look like a real team. Then they just improved each week. Then boom, come back home against Denver and all of a sudden, we can't stop the run anymore (or the pass for that matter), Favre is completely off target (constantly), and the playcalling just goes to crap.

This may be the biggest let down I've experienced as a jet fan. I'm only a young adult, so I wasn't around for all the disasters before the 90s, but this one really does hurt more than any other scenario I can think of (including the 2 botched FGs in Pitt). I just feel that this team had SO much talent, maybe even more than the 1998 squad, but for some reason after mid-season they just couldn't put it together anymore.

I'm in disbelief, what an ugly, ugly end to what was looking like such a promising season. And now what? Favre retires, Mangini gets fired, and we're back where we started. And you know what makes it even worse? This was our one real shot, with all the talent, and the HOF QB, and the one year WITHOUT Tom Brady and Pats rulling the world, and an "easy" schedule. Next year, Brady comes back, we have a real schedule, and we will return to our usual fashion. Hopefully we can lock down and keep all the talent we brought in this year, but if we can't find a QB for next season (unless Ratliff or Clemens can step it up), we may be in for a few more years of waiting.

What a damn shame, opportunity WASTED, basically THE JETS BLEW IT!

To be honest, who cares? The pats went 11-5, we went 9-7, and mid season we proved we were the better team and took control of the division, yet of course we blew it...

I don't give a shit about the pats missing the playoffs, that means nothing.

you'd be singing a different tune if we won...and the Pats were in.

I understand your pain...and i hate the fact that this season turned out to be a wash....but for me, if Belichick would've made it in with Cassel as his QB and all those injuries they had on the defense....i'd have to call the suicide help line.

There's absolutely no solace in that. We didn't take down anyone but ourselves.
