Has to be said, plain and simple. This team did not play to its potential, It's on the coaches' heads for sure, but it's also on the a**holes that decided this season just wasn't worth it. For every thread about firing Mangini there should have been one for each asshat that doesn't deserve a roster spot. That being said, who do you think needs to get the axe (Limited to guys with contracts beyond this season)? My nominations for right now Favre - He had to play by someone else rules, he chose not to play. Who says "this could be my last season" while they're still playing? He checked out well before the season was over. Barton - Mad roughing the passer skills, total idiot Coles - Whiny malcontent feel free to add your own, just not the coaching staff, there are plenty of threads for that one.
Barton wasn't great or anything but he did alright. I would say he should go just because of how high his price tag would be instead of how well he played..... now as for people who don't deserve roster spots.... TY LAW
I think Barton deserves to go just for the grenade throw in the Denver game, but his age, price, and inability to cover also factor into it. As for Law, his contract is up and he's not getting resigned.
Smith I agree with completely but I wouldn't mind bringing Elam back so long as he doesn't start. He was really the only play-maker in the defensive backfield (3ff, 2 sack, 1 int, 1td). Having him back up Rhodes wouldn't be too bad.
Most of our secondary, we need a real safety next to Rhodes, Bryan Thomas could go away as well, Coleman wasn't very good either. And lets hope with real coaching Gholston can turn into something
Coles, Favre, I wouldn't mind keeping Elam for depth purposes, Smith may stay but def not starting, Baker argh hes prob gonna stay unfortunately
Here's a few other oxygen thieves: Barrett: Useless, costs too much Bowens: Can't cover, can't beat out Barton Baker: You're right, this team doesn't treat you like they should Sione Pouha: Has not played well in spot duty, can't run down the field on kickoffs/punts- cut him
D. Coleman, Favre, Ty Law, Barrett, Eric Smith, Elam, Franks, and Poteat need to go. B. Thomas and K. Coleman could be replaced and I've lost a lot of faith in D'Brick. Barton, Coles, and Baker are all solid veterans. Cutting or trading any of them would be stupid and pointless.
Do you actually have a counter argument or are you just going to say "you're wrong"? Barton isn't worth his contract and he's a liability on the field, there's nothing solid about him at all. Coles is a malcontent and Cotchery has been in the league long enough to start mentoring players. Cotch may not have Coles' speed but he excels in other areas where Coles lacks...like not being an a**hole Baker is just a waste, and after his little hissy fit this pre-season he doesn't deserve to stick around. Also, in case anyone hasn't realized, Law was only given a one year deal which effectively expired today. He doesn't need to be mentioned here.
I don't need a counter argument since one was never made that the team quit. Give me some evidence that they quit and I'll respond. Basically they got outplayed and outcoached, but I didn't see any quit in them.
