Oh come on lol. We cant even give Brian Billick a mention. I think besides Cowher he would be the best candidate.
Really? I was thinking Will Farrell. The way he turned around that soccer team in Kicking And Screaming was truly inspirational. Also, imagine the press confrences!
Beware we have a former HC already in Bill Callahan & he will would come far, far cheaper then Cowher.
He has no belly button and no nipples. . . . not that I was looking, or anything. . . . natural curiosity . . . shut up. . .
This is the guy that destroyed a Superbowl contending Oakland team in a few short months. Then, he went on to burn what remained of a Nebraska program back to the Stone Age. I'll take a pass on Bill Callahan, thank you very much.
But will Woody take a pass on him if he comes $15 million cheaper than Cowher over 4 years? That's the very good question that Champ is asking.
I'll say it again in this thread. You guys really think Woody has the stones to fire Mangini after a 9 win season? I don't see it happening.
I see him as potentially having the stones to announce a change in direction for the Jets as he hires Bill Cowher or Marty Schottenheimer to take the reins. I agree with you that he is remarkably unconfrontational, explaining why Bradway is still in the building, and will likely not fire Mangini or Tannenbaum to start a search process for the next regime. It's going to have to be a done deal with the new guys announced as the old guys depart.
Maybe Woody will have a few holiday cocktails and call the chin for a little before the season ends talkie pooh.
My money is on Cowher, Raitliff and Clowney in 2009. Keep Tanny around and promote Callahan to OC. Get anyone off the street that at least spits as much as Cowher for DC, and has a ball-sack that could at the minimum be considered identifiable. I'd be OK with Mr. H ONLY if Favre is staying another year.
I don't see why everyone is so convinced Woody won't fire Mangini. Guy has PSLs to sell. He wants to sell $400 million in PSLs, if I remember correctly. Whatever he pays Cowher would mean little compared to that figure.
