Would be perfect, he would fire up players, show some kind of emotion at least.

You forgot the little part about him running an all-out 4-3, which would require that we reshuffle our present squad and hope that the dopes can pick up a new style of gameplay in one offseason.

Are you serious? Last thing the Jets should do is bring in another unproven head coach. With all the talent on this team and a proven coach (i.e Bill Cowher) the Jets could be poised for playoff runs every year.

Never mind the fact that its a Giant coach. The Jets are in there Giants shadow enough as is already.

I don't even thing that bothers me, the 4-3, as much as the idea of bringing in yet another first time HC. Can we get a guy with some experience as a HC please? Mangini, Herm, Groh... our last three coaches. Why must the jets continue to gamble on a hot assistant with no experience?
The Giants went and got Coughlin, over about 3 or 4 "hot" assistants. It took time, but the man who had the HC experience was able to change his approach and NOT lose his team, in fact he adapted TO his team.
These inexperienced HC's seem to have no ability to do that when they get to year 3 or 4. I am not saying HC experience is necessary to be a successful coach, I know there are plenty of examples of first time HC's having success, as mangini and Herm both did in their first year. But the jets have done this since parcells left. Can we get a guy who has experience (I'm looking at you Bill Cowher) this time around?
Just my 2cents, and to me is besides the point, as I don't think Mangini is being fired....

What's Pete Carroll doing nowadays, besides running a successful college team?

Spags has been around and unlike Mangini actually was the DC of a SB D that dismantled the Pats O.

All true Winston, but he still has never run his own program. Its a big difference... I am not saying Spags is not HC material. At all. I would just hope the Jets look for an experienced HC, considering the last 3 have had no HC experience, and their programs have fallen apart in year 3 or 4. Or in Groh's case, year 1.

The last three HC we had didn't have a resume close to Spags. The only other guy is Cowher and BB teams have owned Cowher. We ain't beating NE and the Phins at their own game with Cowher, we might with a different approach which Spags brings to the table.

Don't get me wrong I like Cowher at least we will have a tough team that runs the ball and stops the run. I think he would also turn Rhodes into a stud again. I'm just not convinced he can beat BB or Parcells.

I think we should look at Brian Billick, Rex Ryan, and Cowher as our Top 3 choices.

That's a very good point about Spags dismantling NE in the SB WB. Where do we find Cowhers record against BB though? When BB was in the same division as Cowher for 4 seasons Cowhers Steelers won 3 division championships.

    Two points...

    1. Spags may not want to become an HC yet. He was offered the Redskins' job and an assload of money last year, he turned it down. He may not think he is ready yet.

    2. If anyone takes Spagnuolo I will spend several stays sitting alone in the dark, slowly smoking a cigarette, with one lone tear running down my cheek.

Well, I think if Giants go to SB again, which I think they will, he will be ready for an HC job, because there should be like 7 openings next year, and he will have his pick of those jobs. (this is funny... my other Giant fan friends use this same rationale, hoping against hope to keep the guy.)
And that is pretty funny stuff, the "American Indian in the pollution commercial" with the single tear is comedy gold...

Mike Tomlin ran a Tampa 2... went to the Steelers... and kept the 3-4.

A GOOD coach adjusts his scheme to fit his players...
