Everyone thought the Giants were fools for trading up to get their franchise QB. I feel like the Jets should take control of things and get the QB THEY want to build their franchise around. Whether it be Bradford (if he comes out) or Stafford. I don't think the Jets are considering Clemens as the answer anymore. Does anyone feel like the Jets should make a move on a QB? What would you do for 09'?
Ughhh... Besides, Tebow is going to pull a Manning. No, not an Eli. A Peyton. He's asked the NFL commitee to look into what his chances are to be drafted by certain teams...IOW. He wants to pick. aftr... RATLIFF!
I wanted the Jets to do that in April. But, no, the stupid Jets either didn't want Matt Ryan or tried to move up and failed. Either way- the Jets are teh suck for it. Vernon "One Trick Pony In College" Gholston was the answer, they thought. Unfuckin'believable. I like Bradford and think he will be good, but not as good as Ryan. I have no idea about Stafford. He looked good at times and looked sloppy on other occasions.
Eli isn't a superstar quality quarterback. He's a capable guy with an incredible offensive line, one X-Factor running back teamed up with inordinately talented compliments, four or five reliable receiving targets, and a very very good defense. The Giants are a championship team less because of what Accorsi did to acquire Manning than because of what Reese has done with his personnel decisions to build around Eli. The Jets need an improved coaching staff, and they need to plug some holes of holes. Blowing up a draft for a young QB may not be the right way to do that, unless they're absolutely blown away by Bradford or Stafford.
Not elite, but he is their guy. They trust him to win the games and for the most part he has done that. Over 3,000 yards passing, 21 TD's and only 10 interceptions. That is pretty good.
I think Bradford or Stafford can have a Matt Ryan affect on a team next year, and considering that this team is still very talented, I think it would be smart move to trade up and grab one of them. This is of course assuming that Favre is going to retire and $13M is freed up.
I voted for trading up to get a franchise signal caller. But having voted that way...I"m still a little nervous....because after Gholston...we can't afford to spend the farm on another potential bust. Hopefully the "scouts" earn their paycheques this offseason
Eli was still not worth all the Giants gave up for him and he absolutely sucked the 1st couple years and set the Giants back, I think we should sign a quarterback and not go the Giants route since we are built to win "now" and not "later" and can't go thru the growing pains.
By the way, when I say "capable" I don't mean "shitty" or "system QB" or "JP LOSMAN COULD DO THIS ON THAT TEAM RABBLE RABBLE." I mean he's good, but a very clear cut below his brother, Brees, and Brady. FWIW, I feel that Cassel probably falls somewhere in this range.
Really? Or just sarcastic? Some people really don't like tebow so it is hard to tell. I personally like Tebow as a person and a competitor, but not sure if he is a QUARTERBACK.
I agree...just because Eli doesn't have 300 yard 5 td passing games doesn't mean he isnt a franchise QB. Big Ben is a franchise QB and he had 15 TD's going into todays game.
Stafford and Bradford still have to declare their eligibility, don't they? There's a chance they both could go back for their senior years next season.
Hahaha...if we even have a 4th round pick. I think we do. I think we have a 1st, 2nd, 4th, 6th and 7th.
