Leon Washington's number of carries in wins and losses WINS MIA - 6 ARI - 7 CIN - 5 KC - 3(60 yd TD) BUF - 7 STL - 12 NE - 5 TEN - 8 BUF - 1 LOSSES NE - 2 SD - 1 OAK - 3 DEN - 2 SF - 1 Am I just crazy or is that saying something? The more we give him the ball the greater chance we have of winning. TJ is having a phenomenal season but is it to much to ask to take away 3 or 4 of his carries and give em to Leon?
How about posting the total number of offensive plays each game or a percentage of total plays that LW gets the ball?
He absolutely needs to get more touches. i know Jones is great too, but Leon seems to our best offensive weapon and he only got 1 carry yesterday (and it was a TD)
Jones and washington should split like 35 carries a game, 20 for tj and 15 for lw, plus LW and TJ can be thrown too, we should be unstoppable with Favre in the back throwing to recievers like Coles, Cotchery, Clowney, Smith, Stuckey, Keller, LW and TJ. Come on now whats wrong with this idea???
Agree 100%. When we play our best football, we manage the game. We hand the ball off 25+ times to Jones/Leon, throw dump offs and screens to TJ and Leon, and then throw short passes to Coles/Cotch/Keller/Stuckey. Control the clock and manage the game.

Thank you. i would love to see the stats for Thomas Jones' touches in wins and losses too. i'm sure they are similar. We need to run the ball more and control the clock. That's what we did during our 5 game win streak, and that's what we should be doing now. Leon-5.9 yards/carry on the season Jones- 4.6 yards/carry on the season Run the ball and get Leon more touches!
You're definitely right, and I posted about this on my blog, but this stat is misleading. In San Diego, we were blown out early, and we didn't run the ball. In some of these other games, we never had the ball. Against St. Louis, we had such a big lead that we ended up just killing the clock. He needs more touches, but stats like this and "if such and such team runs 25 times, they never lose." Obviously...teams that are in the lead are usually the ones running it.
Its an interesting stat to point out. Leon has had a lot of big TD runs this year. But we also have to remember in the games we lost we were playing catch up which does not always include a heavy running game. Especially in the 4th quarter when we are down by 2 scores. edit - jatfanmack beat me to it
Absolutely. Running the ball a lot doesn't make much sense when we are behind and playing catch up. However, whenever Leon touches the ball he makes a great play almost every time. A screen pass to him when we are behind is a great way to utilize him. Remember the Dolphins game in '06? (i think).
leon is our mvp so far this season. maybe even the entire running game is our mvp. why oh why do we start the game by passing the ball when our running game is playing so amazing?
Maybe Schottenheimer can keep track of Leon's touchses. Kind of like when Herm brought in Dick Curl to tell Herm what time it was.. In all seriousness Schotty should be keeping track otherwise your just wasting this kids talent.
i dont think hes being wasted, as far as his production. most of his production though gets called back on a penalty. can we go one game without having a big return called back for a block in the back or a hold? I think he needs a 2-3 more touches per game and 1-2 more dumps in the flat for when mr. and ms. never get open, dont get open.
