... the Jets have scored the 3rd most points in the league so far this season. They are first in the AFC. 1. New Orleans Saints - 390 2. Arizona Cardinals - 386 3. New York Jets - 385
THIS is a stat I like. I've heard a lot of stuff about the Jets and their lack of identity, but WTF, this is a defining statistic: THE JETS SCORE POINTS!!! Thanks you!
The Saints are 7-7 and for all intents out of the playoffs. The Cardinals are in the playoffs but they're a joke that can't beat any decent teams, and gets crushed outside of their division. In fact, if you swapped the Bills for the Cardinals, you really wouldn't see any difference in their records, the Bills would be winning the division and the Cardinals would be in last place. The thing about all 3 of these teams is they are wildly inconsistent, their offenses randomly show up, and when they do they score 50. Then when they actually need to score points in a tight game, they fail miserably. Scoring 50 against bad teams and then scoring 17 against a good one doesn't make you a good offense. Frankly, I'd take the Steelers offense over any of those 3 you just listed. I don't know how many points they scored this season, but they score against any defense and in the clutch. That's what you want in an offense.
In my mind? At least the Jets have an identity. THEY SCORE POINTS! And for some weird reason, I feel that the Jets offense WILL score some points against whatever defense they face in the playoffs. So if this team can get that far? Great. The Jets score points!
we are up there in D td's but if it wasn't for TJ/leon we would be nowhere near here, maybe schotty will man up and realize once he gets to marty's age
Is anyone willing to take the time to recalculate this without the ARI game? One game, screws up all the stats.
385-56-13 = 316 over 12 games. That's over 26 points per game. Pretty good. New Orleans have 390-51-7 = 332 over 12 games. Over 27 points per game. Also good. Arizona is 386-41-14 = 331 over 12 games. Also over 27 points per game. Pats have 291 over 12 games, at 24.25 per game. Dolphins have 235 at 19.6 per game.
There's also the Rams game. Again, scoring on crappy teams is nothing if you won't show up against good teams or just randomly don't show up period. You can't really take Arizona or the Rams seriously. We scored 29 against the Chargers too but that was all garbage time. And you can tell just by watching the games. Against Buffalo we got 31 this time, but that offense looked inconsistent and the defensive is what got us those points at the end.
And we did it even with a sadsack QB and a RB that we should be pulling every down to let Leon play more! ... or so I am told :breakdance:
Well those results are simply not a true representation of the team. You have to take out all games in which the Jets wore their throwback jerseys, as they had some of their highest scoring games in them.
i hate when people "take out games". if you take out the best game, you also have to take out the worst game.
Oh yes, It is a well known fact that no other NFL football teams are playing these "crappy" teams. These teams just sit at home watching TV the other 16 weeks. So by all means we must adjust the Jets totals downward to exclude these teams, and it is not necessary to similarly adjust stats of teams we are comparing ourselves against.
dammit badger you should know better that to try to show something positive in here after a loss noone wants to hear that . we're supposed to talk about who should be cut or fired
That would make sense, like a curve system. Just taking out the best game completely skews the numbers in the opposite direction.
Ok, I'll bite. Take out every teams top scoring game and Jets become 4th and the Giants move up to third by one point. Maybe I have to take out the top 2 scoring games it will change things?! I'm inclined to agree that the Jets score points is a good takeaway.
