Yes, given how lame our pass rush has been all season, I was indulging with a little mental "what if" yesterday ... what if Gholston had panned out (or progressed faster, if that is your take)? How much better would the overall D be if opposing QBs did not have all day to pick apart our questionable secondary? Might we actually have a legitimate shot at winning it all? Oh well.
You've criticized the players AND coaches before. Despite all of this, we're still 9-5. If the players and coaches were as bad as you've claimed so often in the past, we would not be 9-5.
I suspect we won't see Gholston again this year. Brad Smith was out due to a concussion. The ST's didn't play very well. He will be active next week. Clowney replaced Smith well enough on the roster to get another look next week. There will be no roster spot for Gholston next week
I have to think & I am sure U know this that his forays onto boith the playing field & the practice field have shown he has at this moment zero ability to rush the passer & do any of the other things you mention in ur post
The simple truth; currently, we are asbsolutely not SB material. If our D comes out of hiding and starts to get mean then we have a fighting chance, but still will be a tough road.
Here we are a team desperate for a pass rush. We have the 6th pick of the NFL draft in 2008. A Pass rusher no less and he's deactivated! If he's not a bust he's very close to being one!
Oh I agree, but the way champ makes it sound, and how he calls every player on the Jets average to below average, and constantly bashes the coaches, you would think the Jets would be 1-15 with these coaches and players that he claims suck. Personally I blame the coaches more than the players at this point. It's kind of hard to have a passrush when you only rush 3 players 90% of the time. That is 100% coaching. To expect a consistent passrush with only 3 guys going after the QB is assinine.
Right On. And whats sad is this team is extremely talented. This is no group of overachievers. Bob Sutton can be technically defined as being insane. Whenever they do bring a safety blitz, a corner blitz or just a 6-man rush, good things seem to happen. The only person that doesn't see this coaches the defense. Like I find myself saying every week, maybe next week they'll see the obvious truth and start putting some pressure on the opposing QB.
