    At this point, we're desperate.

If we're going to generate any pressure, we're going to have to look elsewhere on the roster. Here's my pick, #94.

No, not Jphn Abraham (he's got 15.5 sacks by the way).

Marques Murrell, back-up LB, and special teams standout. He's fast and a good tackler. Let's give him a shot and see if he's got a knack. Can't hurt and maybe it'll work.

Without more pressure, we've got no chance to win...and I'm talking about next week vs. Seneca Wallace.

how about letting your most physically gifted player play and develop instead of deactivating him and watching him plunge into busthood from shit coaching.

The D's played better. Iunno why people act like this is how it is. Let them get their shit together. It's not like we're not winning.

Or we could just make another 20 threads about suckage in a win.

I saw Murrell blitzing a decent amount of plays late.

Gholston may indeed be a bust or a moron or both, but I think Mangini has ruined him for this season by asking him to learn to play coverage in his asshole defense.

Guaranteed if Beli or Parcells had the kid, they'd just would've stuck him in on big passing downs and told him to tee off and he'd have 8 sacks by now.

Fucking stupid to draft a guy for his passrushing ability and then ask him to do something else.

It's possible. He certainly didn't look good against Cutler two weeks ago when he had him in his sights and didn't close like an Abraham or a Taylor.

I would just like to see the kid get to come in on 2nd and 3rd and longs and have a chance to just passrush for a whole game, and see what happens. He hasn't been given THAT opportunity and I think he might surprise us.

You're forgetting that the Mangenius taught Troy Brown to be a mediocre nickelback on a handful of plays a game, therefore he can teach pass coverage to anyone.

He is all energy. I saw him fighting and doing everything possible to get in there. I fully expect Marques to play more and get his first sack next week.

Did you see DeMarcus Ware pressuring Eli Manning all game. It totally took Eli out of his game plan. The defense lacks a true pass rusher. As far as im concerned the NYJETS havent had a pass rush since John Abraham.

I thought Pace was supposed to improve the pass rush.

Holy crap, I understand the last few weeks the team has been lacking in the pass rush department. But people need to consider the fact that in the scheme the Jets are rushing three or four guys and dropping 7 or eight in coverage. With the occasional five man rush, which means Thomas and Pace are rushing the passer.

In their base 3-4 against a standard 2 wide offense. They can rush the passer, the problem is once teams go beyond that, Mangini has guys like Pace and Thomas in coverage. Hell it seems every play that LBs like Barton, Pace or Thomas are back in coverage, winding up on a WR on some plays.

Let's take a look at some stats....

Pace 7 sacks, 4 forced fumbles with four fumble recoveries and one TD.
    Thomas 4.5 sacks, 1 FF, 1FR
    Ellis 8 sacks
    Bowens 4.5 sacks
    Jenkins 4 sacks

The Jets are 4th in the NFL in sacks, tied with the Giants of all teams, who are known to have a terrific pass rush.

They are first in forced fumbles.

Last year they had 29 sacks.

So the pass rush is much improved, with guys like Pace earning their keep when asked to rush. Yesterday he had two sacks yet people act like he was not even there when mentioning the D.

And lets keep in mind there are exactly SIX players in the NFL with double digit sacks...SIX. That is why a pass rushing DE like Abraham and Peppers and Co. are rare. You are just not going to find many.
