Had to be the slant pass that somehow ends up an interception. At that point, we were clicking on all cylinders. [Honorable mention to the fake punt]. That play put us on our heels for the rest of the game, until the fabled fumble-defensive touchdown. I promised myself that i would evaluate the game as a non biased party, but i honestly felt like we were focused today. [With the exception of us trying to constantly strip the ball instead of tackling the ball runner]. I would like to see us revert to our blue collar mentality BEFORE we were annointed as the 2nd best team in the NFL. Side note: Wonder if the Titans could end up the #5 seed after all is said and done. Go Indy?!?!
[QUOTE. Side note: Wonder if the Titans could end up the #5 seed after all is said and done. Go Indy?!?![/QUOTE] No, they can't. The Titans have already clinched their division and a 1st round bye. The Colts will be a wildcard, and almost certainly, the 5th seed.
Still isn't. I think the 1% is when they play a divisional rival of ours. Even then I'm not happy about it.
I completely agree. I think, without that play, the Jets blow out the Bills today. Think about it. The way that drive was going it would have been 21-3 at the end of it. (It certainly would have been AT LEAST 17-3 Jets) The Bills likely would have thought about abandoning their running game and "Loss"man would have turned it over even more than he did. That play totally changed the momentum of the game and totally got the Bills going.
I saw on NFL.com the Titans "clinching", but that doesn't make sense. Should they lose to the Steelers and the Colts, the Colts would have the same division record and the better conference record. It's amazing that the "fumble" "made up" for the earlier fluke pick. We play better when we jump out to an early lead [see NE, TEN, AZ].
I honestly think you and anyone else who believes this is INSANE. That was truly a FLUKE play. Just one of those things that happen during a football game--just like the Ellis fumble return. Here's the deal: The Jets played just well enough to win a game they should have lost, just like they played a game or two that they should have won (i.e. Oakland Raiders). The "real play" of the game was that fumble recovery by Ellis. If you don't accept this, you should have your NFL privileges revoked. Yeah, it was a fluke play, just like the play you are referring to. But--it was the fluke play that WON THE GAME!!!! And that is all that matters.
Exactly. For that matter, anyone arguing that the Jets won on pure luck today are forgetting that the Bills were only in the game because of the unbelievable luck they had getting that interception.
