I'm so sick of these posts about how everything in the world is Favre's fault. Of course he didn't have a great game but everything is NOT his fault. Obviously he needs to do better but stop putting everything on the shoulders of ONE player. If you do that, you should be the same people that come on here and gives ONE player all the credit. It's a team game. "If only we had Chad". Yeah because Chad and the Miami offence is just a juggernaut. You know that 16 points they put up against Buffalo. And then those 14 points they put up against the 49ers. Oh wait or those 16 points they put against the mighty Rams. DOES ANYONE ELSE REALIZE THAT THE DOLPHINS DEFENSE HAS NOT ALLOWED A SINGLE TD IN THE LAST THREE GAMES AND THE DOLPHINS OFFENSE STILL ONLY BARELY WON EVERY GAME! Brett Favre's fault that Coles dropped that pass and then the ball bounced off Coles foot as he was falling down and landed right in a Bills defender's hands. Bottom line, Favre needs to player better but he is NOT the sole reason that this team hasn't performed up to expectations in the past few weeks. Its a team game and I'm not even joking I saw someone post about benching Favre.
We're 4-1 within the division and still have a share of the lead after 14 games. If we were offered that at the start of the season we'd have all taken that. All this Brett bashing is crazy
Obviously the first INT was in NO WAY Bretts fault and if not for being hit just as he threw the second one, he may have had a LONG completion, the hit was just enough to take a few yds off the throw ... I still am glad we have Brett over LAST YEARS JOKES behind center
I see your point, but I don't see anybody blaming Favre for our troubles today. Our offensive production disappeared in the 2nd half (as usual) due to a lack of halftime adjustments, and he threw one ugly pick. But he also played an excellent first half, and led us to 21 first half points. He had a so-so game overall- definitely nothing to write home about- but the reason this game was close was the D.
He had that one bad throw that was an INT, but it was 3rd and 17 and he was hit as he threw. More like a Favre punt. The first one was all Coles. If we would have lost, I would have been knocking the D the most. Now, we don't even have a run defense. Although special teams was noticeably horrible as well.
The way the game turned out wasn't his fault at all, but a lot the man's passes were off target. I don't think anyone's trying to put the blame exclusively on him for any of these past games; if we had a defense this probably wouldn't even be an issue. Today a number of his throws were on the money, like the TD to Cotch, but most were too high, too short or behind the receiver. I don't see how it's even possible not to notice this.
Well lets be real. He had more then one bad throw. Only one bad INT. The other INT was not "all" coles. It was a tough catch and luck played a role as well. And in crunch time he played horribly.
I know right. The throw was high and behind him. It was definitely catchable, but by no means an easy catch. The INT was just the luck of the bounce.
For leading the league in interceptions? Other than the Arizona game he's thrown fewer TD's than INT's this year. It's been more the Bad Brett of two of the last three years in GB than the Good Brett that played last year. The irony is for years we heard Chad couldn't throw the deep ball. I see him throw one down the field almost every week on the highlights. And Favre who's supposed to have a cannon hasn't hit a deep pass since the aformentioned Arizona game. All of his deep throws look like javelins that go right into defenders' hands. Favre actually has to play Chad-like football to be effective, problem being he disdains being a 'game manager'. The run defense the first twelve weeks and the run offense all season have won most of our games, not the hyped QB.
The bottom line about Favre is that he was brought in to win games, not just manage them, and, other than the NE game when he led two late scoring drives, he has not done that. He was given many opporunities to take control of the game today, particularly after the kick return by Washington gave the Jets the ball at the 50 down by 3 with 5 minutes left and Favre did zippo. All I heard for years was that the Jets' failures to win big games and join the NFL elite was because the Jets did not have a big time QB that could win games on his own or win games late. It is obvious that we still don't have that QB. Favre was horrible in the 2nd half. He underthrew, overthrew, and just plained missed OPEN receives (I was at the game - the problem is not that the receivers can't get open - they were open all day today). When the Jets needed him most, after the Poteat pick and the Washington return he did get a single first down. He is no better than the QB we had and his propensity for turnovers makes him, in some ways worse. If you can't see that he stunk today, you are nothing but a Favre apologist.
^^(NYJFan10)^^ Another Pennington fan who just doesn't get it. Besides the first game of the season, Chad is undefeated versus Favre. Stats can be skewed anyway, so taking away a game is just stupid.
As usual, you hit the nail on the head JWWS. Favre has 21 TDs this season to 17 INT. That's just pathetic. The Jets needed some JP Losman and Dick Jauron idiocy to win this game today. He's actually been a liability for this team too frequently.
Of course, don't bother considering the stagnant play-calling after halftime. As always. He missed the Keller one, but that was miscommunication. The Coles pick was worse than the long throw. Coles had to jump and try to catch it behind his hip. The long pick Favre got hit mid follow through. The QB we had doesn't have the talent to keep people out of the box, our running game is the best in the AFC, Favre deserves some credit for that.
How about missing Cotchery open twice on the sideline when the Jets were pinned on their own three, or the the third down pass to a wide open Keller with 4 minutes left in the biggest possession of the season when he threw it 2 yards behind him. Favre was horrible in the second half, not just becaue of the picks, but because he continually missed open receivers and led the Jets to zero points. The defense scored all 10 points in the second half ( three from the Poteat pick and 7 on the Ellis fumble return).
Favre underthrew a couple of passes, and just didn't seem to really be on his game today. He also threw one of his vintage interceptions. He's an above average QB and an upgrade over Chad. That is all he is. I'm glad I wasn't one of those people who bought his jersey or got overly excited when we acquired him. An upgrade over Chad- yes. A franchise saving QB? no.
Exactly- that Keller pass was an atrocious miss. He was wide open on what was the most important 3rd down conversion on the game. I really don't see how people keep finding positives in a guy with a nearly 1:1 TD/INT ratio. I just hope his mediocre numbers means he actually calls it quits after this year.
Dude, honestly, if you're a Chad fan I can't believe you're pulling that 1:1 ratio crap. The Keller throw was miscommunication, if you couldn't tell by Favre going to meet Keller after the play to talk about it. The possession when we were on our own 3, that wasn't bad playcalling at all? Three straight passes? How about give Leon or TJ the ball on at least two of those downs.
