There has been a discussion about Bill Cowher in another thread, how would you like to see the events unfold?

I would like to see it become a moot point by the Jets running the table, taking the division title, romping through the playoffs and winning the Super Bowl, only for Brett Favre to commit to coming back next year.

How could anyone possibly hope for anything else?

If any pick Cowher, they should switch teams or stop watching football.

So far the 10 to 0 vote has restored my faith in the fanbase. If you vote otherwise, you're not a fan.

It may be different if we were obviously out of it, but the way things are going this year, we have just as good a chance as any team to win the SB.

I sat through the entire meaningless game in the miserable cold and rain week 17 last year rooting for a win. Obviously you root for the team to win, especially when it's meaningful.

I think this post sums up what any honest fan would say quite well.

If they could bring back Vince Lombardi from the dead to coach, maybe.

But here in the natural world, you play to win the game.

I love Cowher, but many Pittsburghers despised the guy, even after they finally one.

The thing you have to be careful with when evaluating Cowher is that his GMs did a GREAT job of picking the right players. They were a factory for years. I don't know if you get the same result without the same quality of player

I can't vote in this poll. I just can't. I'm a Jets fan first and foremost but I would love for Cowher to come here in some capacity. Tannenbaum would need to stay, though. Everyone knows how well we draft now, and he's an accountant so he can keep us out of cap hell.

Favre under center with us running the Packer Sweep? That would be hilarious.

Also, we've had great drafting lately, so it would be a similar situation for him.

All in all, if the decision was AFC championship game or Cowher, I'd go AFC championship game. But if we're talking getting knocked out in the wild card round or going one and out . . . It's a much closer call.

I think we found the 1 vote for missing the playoffs!

Seriously, some people look at a head coach's accomplishments all wrong. It's as if to say if we don't have the best coach in the game, we clearly must fire him and find the best head coach.

Maybe it's because we've played in a division opposite Marv Levy, Don Shula and Bill Belichick, so we feel entitled to a hall of fame coach of our own.

Nevermind the fact that the situation could be worse. We could have Art Shell or Lane Kiffin or Tom Cable or Herm Edwards or Norv Turner or Scott Linehan or Jim Haslett or Dennis Green or Mike Nolan or Dick Jauron or Rod Marinelli or Mike Tice or Mike McCarthy or Dom Capers or Jim Zorn or Mike Mularkey or Cam Cameron.

But we don't. We have Eric Mangini, who has been a more successful head coach than all those dudes. But still the outcry: "Belichick is a better coach than Mangini! Fire him! Why don't we have a Dungy or a Cowher?!"

It's a tough situation. Is Thomas Jones the best running back in the game? No. Should we cut Thomas Jones and find our own Adrian Peterson? Of course not. Should we ditch Jerricho Cotchery and start looking for a Reggie Wayne? Do we dump Ferguson and sign an Ogden?

Jets should think way outside the box and hire Kevin Loughery as coach.
