You'd be ok missing the playoffs if Bill Cowher got the head coaching job. Chance to win the Super Bowl, meh. Bill Cowher as a figurehead, hooray. Got it.

I'm not bashing Cowher. But in that game, the game was won before Bettis fumbled. They just needed to kneel on the ball. The fact that Bettis was running the ball is on Cowher (even Bettis scores, why give Manning the ball back). He is a very good coach, but if Harper doesn't get tripped up, they lose and he doesn't win his Super Bowl. Again, I think Cowher is a good coach, but this isn't a sure thing for us to be winners.

I forgot the stipulation was we would only get Cowher if we missed the playoffs.

I put too much time in this emotional roller coaster of this season... so fuck that.

This is an idiot thread and I want to make the playoffs even more now to dash the idiot hopes of people who want us to miss out so we can hire this overrated HC candidate. It's akin with rooting for the team to tank for a better draft pick. Pa-fucking-thetic.

    1. Cowher has already has success, so maybe he's not hungry. Problem with that idea is Parcells won 2 SB and was the best coach we've had in my lifetime.

    2. Cowher knows the 3-4, sparing us another wasted season while we switch schemes.

    3. Favre is more likely to come back for Cowher than Manstupid.

    4. No more gum chewing!

Geez, this would remind me of the whole Parcells thing all over again.

People actually want to miss the playoffs so we can get Cowher on our team? Lol if it wasn't for Doug Brien, Herman Edwards would have beaten Cowher in the playoffs. He won one of the luckiest superbowls ever with some of the biggest bull-shit calls and luck in every playoff game that i've ever seen. i'll pass.

How about if the Jets are one and done? I'd hope Woody would bring in Cowher even then.

Nobody had a gun to the heads of Tannenbaum and Mangini.

They did NOT have to draft Vernon "One Trick Pony In College/No Tricks In The Pro Game" Gholston.

Once Mangini is gone from the Jets he never works in the NFL again in any capacity.

This is simply not true. If in fact he were to get fired after this season he could and would easily find a job in the NFL. Quite possibly with the Dolphins.

this is exactly why i cant understand the complacency sorrounding this team, and the "well, we were 4-12 last year" attitudes. This was drawn up to be our season. You dont go out and have an offseason like we did only to be mediocre during that season.

I think he was referring to EMs ratting out Belly in the spygate affair. I think he is 100% correct in what he is saying. I think the blackball has been rolled thru out the the NFL on Eric except maybe for the Raiders. I doubt that Dolphins are an opportunity as Sporano seems lite years ahead of Eric

    Absolutely.

He'd resurface as a defensive coordinator.

Last December I compared Mangini to failed Bills head coach Joe Collier. The comparisons were eerie. Collier would eventually resurface as the defensive coordinator of the famed Orange Crush defense in Denver.
