Out of all the rookies to be listed below, one name never shows up. For a top ten draft pick he isn't even in the top 100 rookies for production.

I hated the pick and so far he has not proven me wrong. Workout wonders are all about the gym but hardly ever translate to production on the field.

wow look at all of those starters with virtually no one on the depth chart in front of them.

We are all bored waiting for the SF game, so this is what we dig up......

Everyone needs to wait on Gholston. Anyone who expected him to be great from Day 1 was just fooling themselves. This guy was a project pick all along.

I'm not the biggest Gholston fan, but let's just accept that he won't be making an impact this year and hope that he contributed in 2009. Crucifying the kid for not bring an impact player right away isn't doing any good, it's probably destroying any confidence he still has.

Awesome I would have bet my left nut I would log on and see another Gholston thread started by a chronic TGG schmuck. Thankfully, I was not disappointed.

Gholston gets his first sack this weekend - book it.

I'm also going to go ahead and predict his celebration dance - he will hold his hand to his helmet like he is shading his eyes from the sun and look around the stadium for where he parked his car.

Not to be a stickler as I hated the selection as well, but jesus christ man, Why in the fucking Hell are the Jets picking a Project Player in the top 10? I hate project players in round one hate em hate em hate em. A later pick such as 3-7 ok fine take a gamble. But first and second round guys make way to much money, and offer up the possibilities to consistently be phenomenal players, that picking a project is stupid. and a top 10 project, if it doesnt pan out, will essentially be making $20 million in garuntees and suck balls for 5 + years before you can get rid of him.

    My point exactly!

Thomas has never earned all the money we have given him, Robertson was a project tweener player too and never amounted to the two 1st round picks we gave up for him.

A top ten pick should be a player that has a lot of experience in college at the position you expect him to play in the NFL and should also be projected to start from day one.

Top ten guys make at least $5 million a year, for that price we could trade the pick and get a proven player, pro bowl player, ala Jenkins. Yet with Jenkins we only gave the money.

I say we should have either traded down or traded away the pick for a proven player. Maybe a WR, like NE did. These tweener project guys are killing us in the draft.

You hit the nail on the head. Don't mind a project player, but not with the number 6 pick. The expected salary, when will he actually be productive if ever? and with free agency what guarantees are there he will be a long term fixture on the team? The only exception I can think of is a franchise QB who watches for a year.

Now that VG is here, I do hope he comes around, and that 10 years from now I am eating my words.

Lets just all hope that he doesnt turn out to be another D-Rob. We need players who excel not just show up and take a roster spot. How could this happen. If it wasnt for the Keller pick this would hurt more than it already does.

He's certainly been a disappointment so far, but you cannot call someone a bust in there first season. I would say this is even more true when you're talking about someone changing positions. He's also NOT a workout warrior. Go read about his college career.

I agree completely. I was extremely angry when we made the pick. I wanted to trade back and take Stewart/Mendenhall or grab Dominic-Rogers Cromartie. The best pick obviously would've been Mayo, but there were much better picks on the board.

I just think it's pointless to hammer the kid when it's not doing any good. Acknowledge that he wont make an impact this year, hope he adjusts to the position next year.

Yeah our running backs are so bad we needed 8 or 9 more from the draft.

Well before the season we didn't know if Jones could do what he has done this season.

After seeing little of him during college (I live in SEC country) but reading all the hype of him on here, I made sure I paid attention to him during Ohio State's bowl game thinking "Why this guy?" I just didn't see it..... Saw nothing special at all (at least for 6th pick in the draft)

Many people were also saying Matt Ryan wouldn't be good because he has a weak arm, slow, etc.......

It takes more than being tall and strong to be a good football player.

I hope this kid proves me wrong in a big way, but I doubt it. :shit:

You can't expect every first rounder to become amazing right off the bat. He hasn't had that many tackles because HE'S NOT A STARTER yet.

    Let's relax for a bit.

At the time, a lot of people thought we should take a RB. Remember that Jones is 30, so even though he's having a great year, he might not be around for that long. Leon can never be an every down RB, so even picking up a RB in the 2nd/3rd round this year wouldn't be such a bad idea.

You don't declare a bust in season 1, you should know that.

Eli Manning is a bust too, right? Must be based on this logic.
