Yeah, Jenkins definitely has those intangible leadership qualities. I think that when he takes the blame like that, it's not necessarily saying that he physically lost the game on his own, but that he didn't bring that fire that sort of kickstarts the whole D. I thought Jenkins' expressions when they showed him during the Denver game really told the whole story. He just didn't look into the game and so went the whole team. It sounds like they're ready to come out with some heat this week though. I'm looking forward to it.
Yep, and when you are good at what you do, you arent insecure about admitting it when you mess up. You have confidence in what you do, and know when you can do better, according to your own good standards, so your ego doesnt suffer by admitting it when you dont do as well as you know you could (maybe his HC could take a lesson from him.)

That was basically my favorite Jets article of all time. You had the champion of our D speaking to the high level he expects of himself, Jones solid performance for us getting a nice distinction after mad years in the league, and Mangini...well, taking my mind off the Ellis situation, for one thing. W - H - A - M - WHAM! WHAM! WHAM!
It's going to be fun watching Jenkins on Sunday. And having Harris back will be a huge lift as well. I think this defense is about to turn the corner.

In every interview I have ever seen of Kris Jenkins he comes accross as very intelligent and well-spoken. If you search "Kris Jenkins SNY" on youtube an SNY interview from when he was just signed comes up. You get a great feel from this interview that he conducts himself as a true professional and that he plays for the love of the game.

Reading this stuff tonight, 18 days after this thread was started- gee whiz. How quickly shit changes. The Jenkins acquisition worried me. I thought he would play good in spurts. He was superb in 2003. Jenkins in 2003, and Albert Haynesworth in 2007 and Haynesworth in 2008 are, in my book, the three best single season efforts from DTs in this decade. The thing is, Jenkins has been up and down since 2004. He seems to lose focus and interest at times. He's also had some alcohol and weight issues. His spotty play here in December has certainly played a large role in all the late-season defeats.
