Here is the problem. You never take for granted games in the NFL. YOu never take for granted games out west. There is NO way the jets should lose this game. Look at the play by play yesterday -- Buffalo GIFTED that game to SF. Buff had the ball three times inside of the 10 and once more inside the 20 and scored a FG. On the other hand, Gore, Bruce, Johnson -- are pretty good. The QB is not awful -- gets sacked a good bit though. Also - -they have stayed in most of their games and were it not for awful coaching would have beaten the cards.
Treat them as if they are the Titans or Patriots, and you should be fine. Which, Mangini says he does each week.
This SF game doesnt look like a jets "trap game" to me. This looks like a classic jets blowout.. However...If they do lose the SF game...they may very well lose out or go 9-7(I dont see them losing to the Phins to close out thee season)
This is a very dangerous and critical juncture of our season. If we lose in SF, we lose all the momentum we've built over the last 6 weeks. Buffalo might be a win but Miami will be a deathmatch at the end of the season especially if they're fighting us for a playoff spot. Seattle will be tough because the Jets don't play well out west. Here's where Mangini's CS has to show something.. The stove is turned up high on the Jets and the pressure is building. Lets see if yesterday was a fluke or the 5 game streak was..
If Miami are coming in here for the divsion, take cover. I fear 2002 karma. What goes around come around. Get it done before then.
Thats how I feel mick. We are getting flack all over the NFL, smug Woodson etc. Make a statement next week.
They must beat SF next week. (Cant be like the Lions 97 or the bears in 2002 -- all late season disasters against bad teams on the road)
I can't imagine us not finding a way to beat the 49ers after such a listless performance yesterday. We will hear all week about how we were over-hyped (which we were) and aren't really that good and we will come out with a strong performance in SF.
the tone in Mangini's voice sounded like they are going to put up 40 on the 49ers. I've never heard him that pissed. He was 3 degrees of angry from pulling a Dennis Green. He even said the coaching sucked, thats the first time I heard him say that. Its nice to know he's not a robot.
Stop fearing Miami the last game of the season. You're going to have freezing weather for Chad, they've lost Camarillo for the season...they've just barely beat the stinkin Rams. I wouldn't be surprised if Herm beats them with Thigpen, or if they lose in Toronto next week.
If we lose, we're in trouble. The Denver game should act as a wake-up call. San Francisco isn't bad, but this is a game we should win.
I've been saying all along that they will lose a game that they are "supposed to" win. Every team has AT LEAST one game like that every season. I thought there was a chance they would lose yesterday. I think there is a very good chance they lose in either toronto next week or in KC the week after that. 4 of their last 5 games are on the road. (they are 1-0 so far . . . ) They aren't that good and will get picked off in a game where most people don't expect it. And there is no chance in hell they are beating us in 17 in the meadowlands. book it.
