we lost to the raiders too, remember? so that logic is irrelivent. we're 8-4, lead our div and have an easier schedule than the other afc teams running for the playoffs. the broncos are a good team, we're a better team but did not play well. time to move on and be happy that we're still able to talk playoffs. tired of the same old jets crap. dont worry, be happy. cause when you worry, your face will frown, and that will bring everybody down, so don't worry, be happy
Just because the Jets lose a game they are now SoJ? C'mon, this isn't close to SoJ. Now, if they lose 3 of the next 4...
Look around, it's silly season again, more panicky things are being said than this. Someone posted yesterday that they should have benched Favre at the half and brought in Raitliff! I swear to god, I have never seen such fascination with a rookie late pick 3rd string QB that has never played a down outside of late quarter preseason games against 3rd and 2nd string. It makes me wonder about how knowledgeable the people posting that stuff are. I thought he looked good too, but ... come on. The idea that he could come into THAT situation and do well? Not to mention, was he even ACTIVE for the game?
Farve showed today why he hasn't had success in the big games in the later stage of his career. He is far too careless with the ball. He just chucks it up.
This team is much better than they played. Give it a rest already with the doom and gloom. This isn't the same old Jets, this is a team that has trouble with pass-happy offenses. NO secret there, it's been that way most of the season to this point. If it's not obvious then maybe you haven't been watching because we frequently get beat by or give up huge leads to pass-heavy teams. The only hope we have is if the Jets can out-score their opponenets. They've scored a lot of points this year so it's possible, but I'd still rather see a stiff D in the air as well as on the ground. I'm saying the Jets are going to win on out from here. 12-4 anyone? 11-5? Now when they get to the playoffs they better hope they have a pass-rush and the C2 is played to perfection. Better get their hands around the TEs and they need to attack the ball more often.
The fact is the goal every season is to get to and win the Super Bowl. Jets have no chance of getting their without the bye, hence yesterday was a crippling loss.
9-7 is a REAL possiblity. 2 trips to the west coast, they are definetly losing 1 and could lose both. A much improved Miami team that may still have a shot at the playoffs and in any case will have Pennington stoked to beat the Jets in Jersey. The best shot at a win is the Buffalo game, which is at home against a team they should beat. You know, like Denver. So don't print the playoff tickets just yet.
I must have started this thread too soon after the game. I think the irony and tongue-in-check nature of my original post must gotten too close to the exposed nerve after that tough loss. Oh well....at least it helped me get over that loss.
9-7 is definitely a possibility but not a probability. Pennington can be stoked all he likes, I don't believe the Phins can score as many points as the Jets. Not to mention, until Pennington shows me he can finish off a kill, he's Mr Between-The-20s. San Fran and Seattle are dreadful. Face it....dreadful. Denver isn't dreadful, they're dangerous. So sure, while we could possibly finish 8-8 or 8-7-1 or 8-1-7, I'm going out on a limb and using some sense, and saying 11-5. There's no SOJ crap here. In fact, I can't even remember the SOJ. They never existed. 11-5.
I think people do not understand what SOJ means. It doesn't mean the team never wins. It means they are inconsistently frustrating even when they do. Put the past aside for a moment. The AFC is about as wide open as it has ever been this year. The Tits are on top - the Jets just beat them last week. The Pats are down, Brady out, the Jets beat them two weeks ago. Good times, right? So, everybody gets their hopes up. Except we know, while getting in the playoffs is the goal, where you seed is a factor. Progress like the Giants made last year is atypical. More typical are the pedestrian runs this very team has made in the playoffs this decade. Get in with no head of steam, have to play the wildcard, on the road, and the Champ game has not been one the Jets have played in since 98. The Jets were losing the tie breaker to Pitt before yesterday. Now they are down a whole game, too. So, don't the people here, the ones not me who were talking Super Bowl, Subway Bowl, a first round bye? Do they realize that was made that much more unlikely yesterday? With that prospect in sight, the team played uninspired football. People say the AFC West is weak this year. Jet record? 1-3 against them, including a creaker against KC. How does this exactly inspire confidence? That's what SOJ means. The team never lets you get too comfortable with your assessment of their potential. It makes the long term fan leery of feeling good about the future. Better to enjoy each win without planning for a future one. Then when it doesn't happen, SOJ can't surprise you so much. Why, some here are so surprised they are saying no big deal about yesterday's loss - they don't know how to put it in perspective. Does this mean the Jets are done? Of course not. They still are likely to make the playoffs. It's just that after the great wins against NE and Tenn, after getting to 8-3, being ranked #2 in power polls, after the talk of a NYC SB, yesterday's little passing of gas made that sort of talk foolish. Knew it...
This reminded many of classic Jet screw ups over the years. I was worried going in. Once I heard team to beat in the AFC I knew we were fecked.
Let's look at it this way In Passing yards Seattle is 31st in the league and San Fran is 17th. Denver is the 3rd rated passing offense in the league. They just went up against against the 30th in the league in passing D, which was the Jets. Run D is not an issue. Seattle is dead last in passing D, and San Fran isn't much better at 28. They're going up against the Jets who hold 13th place in passing attack. Seattle is in 9th with sacks and San Fran is at a dismal 21. Seattle 22nd and San Fran at 16. As far as interceptions accumulated by the D, between Seattle and San Fran they're either as inept or far worse than the Jets. That tells me that Brett is going to get protection, Washington is going to get his big plays, Jones is going to grind out his yards with the help of our line over theirs and Brett will have a nice day with his receivers if needed. Our D is going to crush both teams, since I don't see anything that tells me either of those teams can beat the jets through air or land. Buffalo could be our next and final loss.
It would be just like SOJ to beat Seattle and SF and lose to Buff and Miami. Not a prediction. Jus sayin...
wow,, haven't posted in a long time , I know you all miss me,,, funny how the mexican poster was dead on with his joke post huh? I bet you all can't wait for his next jet post about the trip to san fran???? talk about an f'in jinx,, this guy should be banned for life... favre looked like the old man he is,, everyone wanted bad weather and it killed us,, sweep the remaining 4 or we won't make the playoffs,,, just disgusting,, nice job fans...
The Dolphins scare me alot more then the Bills. Buffalo is a dead team walking and their season is over already after starting out 5-1.
As long as they have Pennington in there, stick a fork in 'em. The Jets will stuff the run and force Pennington to beat us. As long as we can put them behind in points early we'll be good. He plays like shit coming from behind most of the time.
Is this what we did in the Oakland game? That's why I worry a lot and would be over an all or nothing end of year game with Miami.
Actually the Raiders have a fairly respectable pass rush and interception rate. They have a terrible rushing D as well. If you remember correctly the Raiders were putting a lot of strain on the Jet O line. That's when Favre was still just winging it out there. THe Jets have a shitty passing D, it's just that simple. Teams that can score through the air stand a decent chance of beating us, assuming their D isn't ridiculously bad.
