Don't you get it? It's not about having fun. It's about fulfilling your duty (that you paid a shitload of money for) to show up for the games (on time, not when you feel like it) and stay till the end (regardless of how over the game is, in a practical sense) and cheer because, as we all know, the team whose fans cheer the loudest win the most games.
Which is why the fuckin jets shouldn't have stayed in freakin Jersey! Please don't make a qoute about you envy of Giant Fans. Jets should have move to queens where the real jet fans are.
Not suprisingly the people that were there were actually really loud. Despite the place being pretty empty the crowd noise was about what it was when the stadium was full. There was even that Leon chant that got going before one of the punts in the 2nd half. But you're right, when people at the games leave early or don't show up they should really think about the impact that decision is going to have on Joe Schmuck Jets fans watching the game at home and forced to endure the horror of seeing empty seats.
ok get off your high horse, "loyal" jet fans are delusional for calling out those who left early. The weather today is brutal and it was evident from the 1st quarter that the Jets didn't show up to play. Get this, I had tickets to today's game (I go to one game per year) and decided not to go after hearing the weather forecast. Seeing the Jets live is great and all, but its hard to watch a football game in the Cold November rain (cue Guns N' Roses) congratulations on getting pneumonia in support of this sad-sack Gang Green we saw on the field today. I feel oddly vindicated in choosing not to go.
i personally would be happy to sit in the rain and watch the jets play win or lose...but i dont have season tickets...but like is said in another thread...if youd like...give me your season tickets when you dont want to stay....it will save you gas money and time...and then you can be a "joe schmuck" and sit on the couch....
I am the biggest Jet fan in the world and have watched every game on tv since 1980, but I live in Suffolk county, LI and absolutely despise the process of GETTING to the Meadowlands. I watch at home or go to a sports bar. It's way more fun to me than dealing with the losers from jersey who call themselves Jet fans. Seriously, this franchise died a little the day they moved out of Shea. We all hung on expecting them to eventually move back to NYC or Queens, but Woody is a traitor.
Today's weather sucked sweaty, droopy donkey balls. The kind of donkey balls you can smell from another room- that bad. I had on a poncho, columbia jacket, hooded sweatshirt, long sleeve T and jersey, cargo pants and overall rain-pants with boots, and somehow I still managed to get wet- how the hell did the water get in? Left the game with a few minutes to go in the 4th, made the mistake of trying to go north on the NJ tpke instead of south, just rolled into thie house about 10 minutes ago. Thanks again to my tailgate buddy for his hospitality!
Cold is one thing. Cold and soaking wet is something else.the nice thing about anything below freezing is you dont get WET cause the perciptation is frozen.
There was some guy sitting 2 rows in front of me- wearing a jersey with a t shirt underneath and gloves on his hands. I saw him at the get up to leave at the same time that we did, and he was wearing shorts- no jacket, no pants. I seriously don't know how the guy sat there for nearly an entire football game...
b/c he has a sack...lol but severely lacks a brain to reason himself to wear proper clothes, nerve endings to feel cold, eyesight to look outside before he left the house, or the internet allowing him to view a weather report... but one thing he does have is a sack
stayed til the brutal end. Most uncomfortable game of my life Ill have to admit. Reminds me when the jets played the oilers back when they when 1-15, i stayed til the bitter end that year too. fucking pouring just as bad. I have a hard time leaving a ball game early to be honest. doesnt make sense.
I live in NC and I believe I woulda stayed. I'm mad the game wasn't on T.V. but the weather did look bad and watching the game was horrible and boring, and I had to watch it over the internet.. They decided to put it on with 4 minutes left.
I am seeing all the pathetic excuses from Jets fans: "I was with Broncos fans who had to leave early," "It was so F'N cold," "The traffic," "The game sucked" etc. etc. Fair enough. And this is NOT, for the most part, directed at the posters on this message board, since we are mostly die-hards. But (as I pointed out during the game on this board), why were you all so quiet? Look, I am very poor. I can't afford to take a bus to the Meadowlands to see a game, much less buy an actual ticket. That's like a week of groceries! And I usually work the night shift, so getting up early enough for a 1:00 PM game is out of the question. So I am not trying to criticize all you ticket-owning Jets fans, but I am very curious about this: Isn't part of the deal when you buy these game tickets and spend all this time and effort going to games rooting for the team to win? It has always perplexed me (as a Jets fan who can only afford to watch games on home TV), how Jets fans seem to be among the most apathetic in the league. They cry about the "Same Old Jets" but fail to support them during a game like this--when I thought that maybe some fan support could have turned things around. I often wonder if the "Same old Jets aren't a product of their own fan base. It wasn't just the team that came out flat today, it was also the fans. The fans didn't sound like a "long-suffering" bunch whose team was finally in first place after a long drought. Instead, they sounded like corporate types at a Super Bowl who have no special rooting interest. I've never been to a regualr season game (just a few preseason games) so really--why are Jets fans so... Bored?
I know. I've done that myself, stayed to the bitter end of an 80's Dave McClain Wisconsin Badgers game that we were getting blown out. Well, I say stayed til the end with the caveat that around the end of the third Q I did have to go into the bathroom and hold my hands in the hot water because I could not feel them any more. But after I could, I went back out and watched the rest of the game (which I recall we also lost by more than one score). A long way of saying ... you now it can be 34 degrees and wet in Wisconsin just as much as in NJ you know .. just a little earlier in the season. Also, if you think you were miserable at this game, and it was more miserable than could could ever be, you should have been at the Gints-Pack NFC championship game last year. I wasn't, but know many people that were. They told me almost no one left, despite some people later getting frostbite.
This was a really bad day to go to the game. My feet and hands were frozen by the time I left the stadium. Still managed to stay for the entire game. However, I am not about to sit here and criticize other Jet fans for leaving early. The team didn't win today because we weren't cheering. They lost today because they played horrible. Even if the stadium was packed to the brim we would've lost this game. Again, knowing that a lot of people weren't going to come to this game because of the weather, why don't the people who criticize those who go get acquainted with ebay or stubhub and get a fucking pair of tickets already. Seriously, I don't need to hear this shit about how many of us went and how loud we were. I don't blame anybody that bothered to come out for the game and tried to stay as long as they could. However, the weather was brutal and some people just couldn't bare sit thru it. Get over it. If you want to prove a point about your "fanhood" start saving some money now and get tickets for the Bills and Dolphins games. Or...better yet, start saving some money now for next season and do something about it. This kind of shit pisses me off.
first off, that friggin game was miserable. second. most of the people didnt leave the stadium but (such as myself) went to the stadium club to get out of the rain(i went at halftime). either way though, anyone who has a problem with anyone leaving this game, especially since OUR TEAM DIDNT SHOW, can lick my taint after a nice long jog.
Are any of the people bitching about Jet fans leaving early, actually season ticket holders that attend games? It seems silly for those who sit at home (regardless of reason) to bitch about those who actually spend money on these games.... And for who ever said something about sitting in 10-20 degree weather. That's a LOT better than sitting in rain. Ask Favre, even he prefers to play in snow more than rain....
