If you play a 3-4 (which we do) you need a pass rush from OLB (which we don't (get))--no wonder the jets D makes Cassell, Cutler and everyone go up and down the field from passing formations. When was the last Bryan Thomas got in a QB's face?
1st half of the season.. I think he plays more coverage since Harris has been out... Harris in todays game would stop most of the shit going on today.
Yeah this guy is not a pure passrusher. Bowens should see some considerable time at OLB when Harris is back.
Thats a stupid idea. Gholston could start over Thomas before Bowens. Thomas should continue to start though.
anybody before Thomas--OLB is the attack position in the 3-4. Bryan Thomas couldn't scare my 80 year old mother.
The guy's a bum. No emotion. Zero fire. Half-ass effort. Blessed with a ton of athletic ability & strength, but seems like he could care less. Most guys in their 7th season will try & take on a leadership role. We cant get Bryan to even show up lately.
Why is everybody blaming Bryan Thomas? He probably doesn't rush because he is being told not to do it. If he rushed the passer against the wishes of the coaching staff he probably wouldn't be starting anymore. Of course, Sutton must be so dumb that he never sees that his play calling doesn't work and keeps doing it every chance he gets.
Thomas rightly GETS much of the blame because he has signed 2 huge contracts with the jets and done squat. He is currently one of 2 OLB in our 3-4. In the 3-4 your lineman "block" (occupy blockers) for the LBs, the ILB stuff the run, and the OLB must be your playmakers. The jets have been trying for years to justify taking Invisible Thomas over Reed, and even resigned Thomas 2 years ago--the guy stinks and the sooner we get Bowens, Gholston, Murrell anyone out there at OLB instead of Thomas, the sooner we'll have a (better) pass rush!

My HS coach didnt have to tell me not to dunk the basketball,........he just knew I couldnt do it even if I tried.
I thought the DC or HC calls the plays and every player must follow their assignments. You're saying that it's up to BT and every other player to decide what they are going to do? What if three or four players decided to rush the passer on the same play? Do the DBs decide on their own if it's going to be double coverage or single coverage on a receiver or do they follow what the play say?
If BT was effective at rushing the QB, then the DC & HC would find more opportunities for him to do so. My first post above was more about B. Thomas in general. He plays with no fire or intensity. Watch Mike Vrabel play OLB or any of the of the Pittsburgh Steelers OLBs like Harrison or Woodley & you will see a distinct dropoff when it comes to B. Thomas.
bryan thomas is going on my shit list...6 weeks ago we were saying thomas and pace were on a roll for double digit sacks...hahahahhahahah
And what the heck makes you come to this conclussion.. The Jets winning streak started when Harris left.. There hasnt been a dropoff.
