That the season doesn't end in November with 5 games left - I guess we can stop all that 5-0 nonsense and the rooting for the Pats to beat Pittsburg nonsense and the "we have to play for a bye" nonsense. Let's hope this team even makes the playoffs.

That the Subway SB talk was a joke - nuff said above

That you don't take any game that the Jets are expected to win for granted - We've seen games like this every year the Jets are a contender - the late season loss to an inferior team at home. For people to be talking 13-3 and first or second seed was incredibly arrogant and premature

That the play calling still sucks week after week - how can you not run Thomas Jones down Denver's throat all day? How can you abandon the run against a horrible run defense that was depleted? How can you abandon the run inside the 10 yard line and leave 10 points on the field? How can you pass on virtually every 3rd and 4th and 1 or 2 with the AFC's leading rusher on your team?

That the Jets don't read a weather report - Although I will continue to say that the Cotchery fumble was not not not a fumble (he was down by contact - it doesn't matter how he ended up the ground with the ball in his hands under him - once he is touched, the play is over), how do call a play like that in weather like we had today???????? That play changed the entire game.

That Favre is not a difference maker - he can't lift the team to a win by himself any more than Pennington could. He underthrows every long pass. He still makes bad decisions. I don't see any difference in the offense with him as compared to the Pennington years. The difference in the offense is the OL and the Jets failed to take advantage of this against a bad defense today. I'm getting tired of these 23 for 35 for 230 yards and no TD games (sound familiar?) with a dink and dunk offense and no consistent running game when the Jets should be running (same as against Oakland - Jones averages almost 10 yards a carry but doesn't get 20 carries).

The the defense can't defend a spread offense - this will haunt the Jets for the rest of the year. All teams have to do is look at the tapes of the Arizona and NE games. The Titans are incapable of playing a spread offense. Let's hope that the Jets either find the answer in the next week or two or that the teams we are playing - Seattle and Buffalo in particular - can't run the spread (SF can and will and we will see if from Miami also).

That the Jets will probably need to beat Miami in week 17 just to make the playoffs.

This was just a horribly coached, horribly played game by just about everyone but Jones and Revis.

Cry me a fucking river. Miami just to MAKE the playoffs? Wow.

Not beating the Titans and Pats on the road back to back means nothing. Obviously.

    gee
just looked at standing funny thing is we are in same spot we were yesterday? First place by a game and own tie break, now we are at risk of making playoffs,
a bit of realism should set in yes, but to now talk about epic collapse your crazy.
Favre is going to have 28-30 tds when said and done and be top 5 in league in touchdowns to call him the same as pennignton is nuts.

every one chill - i do not think we are on the brink of another december meltdown.....

however 2 trips out west sandwiched with division games makes me a little nervous about getting a higher seed.

another L will be dissapointing cause we will be looking at what should have been than what is. 2 more losses will be suicide and back to the 10-6 purgatory many people interpret as success.

    not for me

The spread wasn't the problem. We didn't knock Jay Cutler to the ground 1 time today not once. The guy is as good as any QB in the league right now and the Jets basically played prevent D from the begining of the game. If you watch the Giants they give up big plays all the time but they punish the QB on every single throw they play a war of attrition. That is why they have a great D and we don't. We have all these big fast guys on the front 7 but Mangini and Sutton seem to like to fool QB's with coverage rather than beat the crap out of teams. This finesse mentality has to go. We have the horses now we don't need to fool people.

I think I'm just going to avoid the board for 24 hours after all losses. What a joke.

With this Jets loss I am reminded..

    • Any Given Sunday
    • Bad weather is the great equalizer
    • Jay Cutler is a great QB when he is on
    • Jets fans are the most irrational fanbase in the league
    • The refs throughout the league are having a terrible year
    • WRs need to play better, they were invisible today
    • We need to force more pressure
    • It is hard to win in this league against a decent team losing the turnover battle

    A dose of reality:

New England plays at Seattle, at Oakland, Arizona, and at Buffalo. 4-0 or 3-1 are very real possibilities

Miami plays at Buffalo, SF, @ KC and @ Jets. They could be 3-0 or 2-1 in those games coming into the Meadowlands for week 17.

Meanwhile, the Jets play at SF, Buffalo, at Seattle and Miami. If anyone thinks the two West coast games are gimmees in light of the Jets' habit of playing down to the competition and not winning on the West coast...... And if anyone thinks that wins at home against Buffalo and Miami are givens ..... well you haven't been watching this team play this year.

The playoffs are not a foregone conclusion, and a top 2 seed is very dicey.

I'm not sure what you are trying to say by posting the schedules, the Jets have the easiest schedule out of the 3 teams and a much easier schedule than either Pitt or Balt.

I still feel good about our chances for the 2nd seed.

The Pats have just as many West Coast games in that same stretch...I mean, are you kidding me? I don't even know what to say. You can't be serious.

If this team doesn't come up with 11 wins who cares if they don't make the playoffs? We have as good a team as any in the AFC. We should be able to get to 11 lossing one on the WC and win the division.

I find it amazing the I appear to have gone from sunshiner to darksider while the entire board is keeping the weekend of January 18 open and making reservations for Tampa after today's dismal performance. If this were truly an "elite" team, the Jets take care of business today. Thank God for Pittsburgh

    Wah, wah, wah.

    We lost a game. Good.

Deal with some fucking adversity and move on. Some bad breaks in bad weather turned the game. We still lead the division by a game and have 4 very winnable games left on the schedule.

    Move on.

I know, the Jets fans who keep whining and whining are pathetic! We are not elite! The Giants, Titans, and Steelers are, but we are not!

    WAKE UP JETS FANS!

Elite teams don't win 3 games in a row against division leaders (or, then division leaders in the case of the Pats), two of which are on the road, mainly because no teams do that. You're basically saying you expect 6 game winning streaks from teams that are "elite," and you'd bitch if they lost to SF to snap it anyway. You're purposely expecting the worst, which is different from acknowledging its possibility.

Why wouldn't you put the point of your thread in the title? That way people who aren't interested in the topic don't waste their time. It's common sense.
